One of the best movie of the year...although this type of screenplay format is tried before in Ayutha Ezthu...this movie was refreshing and makes one very emotional...Firstly, the big plus point of the movie is Simbu's acting, I always abhorred Simbu's buildups, but his acting in the movie was top class, particularly all the scenes that start from his robbing, till the scene, when he stands in the dark and feels after he gives back the money. The scene, where he puts his own money to the robbed one, has a strong impact. He even makes fun of himself, when one of the rowdies chasing him in the starting scenes, utters a punch dialogue. All comedy scenes with Santhanam's one liners is a treat, with Ganesh proving apt foil. Although, I fully enjoyed the comedy, the second half and the moving climax is the only thing in my mind, when I left the theatre. Bharath's climax scene with his mother's reaction was unexpected and great. The part involving Prakashraj had a lot of stereotypical things, but the director also breaks those stereotypes, bringing out the human element. Anuska's part does not mingle with the storyline that much, but her acting in the hospital and her relationship with her transgender friend is positive. Importantly, the music of Yuvan particularly the Vaanam song, and its apt usage in key scenes was great work. It brings out how humanity and their ability to forgive and accept their mistakes, is greater than god. From my all years of film watching...

I would suggest you to see vedam from which vaanam has been made.I felt for a role of such a character there should have been a slight edge and energy shown by the actor which i felt allu arjun portrays better than simbu.simbu was perfect for vtv but doesnt pull it off well here moreover he cant dance as good as allu...cant imagine allu arjun dancing to evan di unnae pethan....have a look at vedam choreography u will get an idea of what moves are all about.

i accept allu arjun s a great dancer( am his big fan). bt simbu s no less dancer dan allu arjun.may be he hasnt got d right choreographer yet.... so dnt be sooo harsh on simbu. i am not a fan of simbu but really liked his performance in vaanam more dan in vtv.
From my all years of film watching, this is the first time, I felt the lyrics of a song, fits very well and even elevates the scene. In addition, the person who plays the grandfather's character makes an impact...the young boy's Maths connection in the initial and the final scene is well brought, with film ending positively. Although, the screenplay format, and even the hero's character may seem very different from a normal Tamil film, and people may find difficult to adjust to it, I hope they will adjust and appreciate this Gem of a movie from Krish. Hats off to you Krish....
