Don't fall for this trap
by Kalpana Natarajan on Apr 21, 2011 12:49 AM  | Hide replies

Dont submit your great story to lousy Bollywood. They will steal your story.. make a few changes and then call it their own story. and give you a credit "initiated by".. which wil appear in the clsoing credits, after the audience has left the theature... even the cleaner people wont see your name being credited. Moreso, they will take the credit for "original screenplay"... and then not even thank you for giving the seed script when they win awards. I hope you guys know what I am talking about.. yes its the 3 idiots controversy. Please read Chethan Bhagath's blogs before you submit your winning story to lousy bollywood. Don't believe anyone. Believe in safeguarding your creation, by registering your story with a recognized copyright protection board.. be your own publicist. and read FINE PRINT before you sign anything. Don't settle for anything less than a dedicated opening credit saying "BASED ON THE SCRIPT WRITTEN BY .. YOUR NAME" before the film starts...Be wise guys. Don't Bollywood smother and kill you!

guys, don't submit anything
by Li Na on Apr 20, 2011 09:55 PM

Rediff had run a similar rubbish contest - send us a story, we'll publish the best ones. They published 1 story, which was actually a copy!

Even Cornetto and MTV had run a contest - Submit a luv story and a movie will be made. I don't even who won.

Don't fall for such traps....write a story/script/scene and get it registered with Film Writers Association and approach directors. If you're lucky, you'll get a break.

But B'wood is full of morons....they promote flop actors (bachche of yesteryear actors), don't promote talent, make it hard for "outsiders" to get in......and yet, 90% of movies are flop and they complain that B'wood lacks talent!!

Can You Believe This?
by Sangita Menon on Apr 20, 2011 09:32 PM

Mirchi Movies, a production company which is a subsidiary of Times Infotainment Media, announced a movie script contest in 2008. The last date was announced as April 2008, and subsequently the last date got postponed till August 2008. One million rupees was the first prize, in addition to other prizes.

Apparently, they received a lot of entries.

But a strange thing happened.

When the time for results came, they said, not a single entry was worth any prize, and they just cancelled the contest !

Can you believe it !! Not a single entry worth winning a prize in our big country !!

And wat about copyright issues ?
by Kapil Suvarna on Apr 19, 2011 02:18 PM

ONLY IF my script gets selected !! What if not and its stays in the directors mind and he creates a movie out of it. Is he going to remember and give the person its due ? One line or concept is enough to create a whole movie.
So where does copyright come in this ?? Sorry dont agree with this. Just cause directors are running out of ideas this is a ploy to get ideas out of new script writers who are full of ideas but dont get scope or platform to showcase their talent.
