Double Disappointment

Doubles is a perfect example of wasted opportunity. Debutant director Sohan Seenulal and script-writer duo Sachi-Sethu proves that even the presence of versatile actors and a casting coup do not guarantee a watchable movie.

After a successful 2010, Mammooty seems to be struggling in 2011. I cannot think of any reason why an actor of his stature would choose such a script to act. Even a 13 year old kid can predict the box-office fate of such a movie.

Logic-less and inane situations, artificial dialogues, terrible songs, intolerable buffoonery in the name of comedy, wooden acting (especially heroine Tapsee and the main villain) you name it and Doubles has it all.

All in all the film looks like it was made with no interest from the makers. Mammooty sleepwalks through the film wearing a funny wig and looking old. Nadia Moidu keeps screaming most of the time. When Suraj enters the screen with his brand of antics, the film stoops to an all-time low from where it never even shows signs of getting up. Special mention needs to be given for the main villain who plays the character of Louis. This person is a perfect example of bad acting and terrible dialogue delivery.

Hope both the makers and actors take this as a lesson and please come up with something that is at least watchable. Mammooty, if you keep acting in movies like this, people of Kerala who really are huge fans of your acting calibre, will never forgive you. Please give us quality movies.

Anna Hazare type movement is required to clean the oldiewood from all oldies releasing their films every month or restrict their films to an yearly affair as the tamil oldies are doing...So the audience won't get bored!!!

Mammootty should stop acting in films like this, it has become a stereotyped acting for him. After doing good films, it has become a routine now for Mammu to act in movies like this, anyway let us hope the next will be good
