Lal has won National Awards 4 times and Mammootty 3 times. Also Lal is highest nomination in the Best Actor category of National Awards. Big B told Mohanlal is the best Actor in the Country. Pritviraj, Jagathy, Ganesh, fazil, Priyadharshan, Thilakan and Nadumudi vebu says Mohanlal is better than mammootty. Mammootty is great actor, but Lal is greatest.

If Mammooty and Mohan lal are "acting universities", then there's only one chancellor to this university - Anant Nag.
Mammooty and Mohan Lal, can never even come close to Anant Nag when it comes to sensible acting.

I think Mamooty should be a run away hit. He is the best. Leave aside all those Mohanlals,jayarams,etc. Mamooty is Mamooty. The No.1 in Kerala. No other can touch him. Any film of Mamooty is a hit in Box office. Critics likes Mohanlal better. Hence cash flow of Mamooty is higher than Mohanlal or others. Even a flop film of Mamooty touches average collection at the Box office.He is next to Rajanikanth.Superstar.

These 2 are the legendry actors on indian Cinema india's proud and pride and world see them with jelous and wonder.
Mohan lal and Mammotty are acting university . while AB , SRK , hrithik all are students of that universitys.

i don't agree. Mohanlal is definitely more popular than the two, also the better actor. Recently Mammootty was bit wiser with selection of his films. When mammootty joined twitter Mammootty was with 25,000 followers. when Mohanlal reached 30,000 in a month , Mammootty was still at 28,000

Mammootty has got more female followers. The fans count in twitter or Orkut don't always tell the actual story. What that means is, Mohanlal has an edge over Mammootty in online presence. But that's understandable.

i hope you have watched Twenty 20 in a theatre, the response will prove to you who is more popular. Even in the film the best intro was given to Lal and not Mammooka. Lal had stronger cliamax.
Its high time that these 2 old hags call it off and give way for the new generation of actors. They had been around for such a long time and sick of seeing them again and again. Guys lets take a decision not to watch their movies, atleast not in the theaters.

there are enough films made in a year , 60 to 80 Nos. So others are also getting equal opportunities, how come they are coming in their way. And if you don't want to see, who is forcing you ???

But you know, the best film of previous year was Pranchiyettan and the second previous year was Paleri Manikyam/Loud Speaker and they were Mammootty films. You can't deny the fact that Mammootty is still the best in terms of providing more super hits and good cinemas. However, he should boycot script writers like SN Swami/Damodaran who're past their expiry/use date. And Mohan Lal needs to be more alert on films he choose, may be the first and best action he can take is throw that Antony out. If so, he would get a chance to act in movies of Ranjit, who's the best director at present.
Mohanlal was the uno 1 & most popular actor in malayalam box office since 1986. His films saw unprecedented success & popularity. Of late his nearest contemporary Mammootty after all these years have finally caught up with him or rather took over from him the Crown. The major hits of seond half last decade was from Mammootty while Mohanlal films was never able to achieve the same. Mohanlal had a come back recently with multi starrer Christian Brothers, while Mammootty had a big failure in August 15. This Vishu another clash of Titans - the Universal Star vs the Mega Star. the Complete Actor vs the Method Actor.

You are kidding right? Mammootty and Mohanlal were both sharing the numero uno status from the mid-eighties. And its a tradition that has come till now. I have grown up in their era and can vouch for this. Do your research and you will realize that Mammooka had numerous dramatic hits in the late-eighties..

true Jigar, those who try to match them and fail .. cry about all these excuses. When Mohanlal and Mammootty came they also had competition from new faces and legends. And please its not that all 60 to 80 films in Malayalam are acted by these two. Its just that others are not able to match them.
