Unless the Lokpal is both competent with a yen for details, who is also assisted by support officers and staff who are service oriented and with a high character, the Lokpal office may well become one of those "vigilance commissioner" kind of offices that merely adds to the cost of corruption (to the public because of the remunerations as well as the cost to the victims of corruption). SELECTION OF THE HIGHEST CALIBRE OF PEOPLE WHO ALSO HAVE A DEEP KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES AND INSIGHTFUL APPROACH IS CRUCIAL, where reservations of any kind and recommendations made by powerful elements due to favoritism, should be most carefully shunned.

At a function in Bombay in the 70's Amitabh Bachhan found himself seated besides Mrs. Sumiti Morarjee, Chairman of the then Scindhia Shipping. Amitabh had just started his career and in his enthusiasm leaned towards her to introduce himself.

Graceful as ever, Mrs. Sumiti Morarjee excused herself to convey that since she did not watch movies she was sorry she was clueless to who he was.

Nothing surprising.

RGV is a ghost of the past ..but he claims that he knows where to get hold of Dawood and his henchmen.

RGV should be given a thorough police interrogation with breakfast lunch and dinner.

AFTER CAREFULLY STUDYING THE MATTER
by such jano on Apr 08, 2011 08:16 PM  | Hide replies

There is no doubt that corrpution need to be eliminated but lok pal is no solution either, usually some corrupt person only will become lok pal and given the amount of powers he is proposed to be given he can create havoc.

This is not so simple as having a lok pal as Ann wants , because people are ultimatly indians and we know there is whole variety there.
