Though I don't know much about old Tamil movies and actress, I happened to see "Annakili" and the songs in that movie flooded me with lot of nostalgic memories, as they were popular in the talkies before show. I watched the movie and since then I knew of this actress "Sujatha". Sad that she is no more . RIP

Aval oru Thodarkathai was remade into Hindi as Jeevan Dhara and kannada as Benkiyali aralida Hoovu with Rekha and Suhasini in Sujatha's role.

Besides Tamil, She acted in Telugu & Other south inidian films. "Gorintaku" (Telugu) has been one of her best films.

Pls check yr facts. 'Do Kaliyan, a Biswajeeth-Mala Sinha starrer was a remake of AVM's 'Kuzhanthayum Deivamum' wherein Neetu Singh as a child plays a dual role.
Sujatha was a Great Actress and her roles in Aval Oru Thodarkathai and Vidhi are still etched in my memory. She could have lived longer;but fate ruled otherwise.May her Soul rest in peace.

Yeah, tall and beautiful, she was a good actress who was adept in tragic roles. I had seen a no of her movies on TV and she was pretty good. It is indeed a shock to hear this news, 58 is no age to leave this world. That's fate, when you gotta go, you gotta go....
She was introduced to film world by Balachander in his film Aval Oru Thodar Kathai where her nick name was Neruppu (Fire) who has to shoulder all her family responsibilities even sacrificing her beloved for her younger sister. The film ran only for her mature acting in her first film. Then she had a very emotional film with Sivaji Ganesan, Paritchaikku Neramachhu (time for writing the exam, a very matured role)when her son slips from the bus on way to writing the exam and being run over. It has to be seen to be believed about her acting. Great Artist. She was one of few Brahmins (actually Iyenger) left over in Tamil film industry who was sought after regularly by many producers and directors irrespective of her age but justice to the role she played.

Yes. Vidhi - Terrific acting where her co-star Mohan was childish. Very strong movie from Balaji Stable - who spun money from re-makes in tamil.
she had done remarkable characters portraying the lead women role in many south indian films( tamil telugu malayalam and kannada) but she was one of those actors who did not get the proper recogniton. our condolences to jaykar and family.
