He started off as an accounts executive in Blaze Advertising,Bangalore as Sampath Kumar and set new benchmarks in Kannada cinema with his subdued but powerful performance. His 'Nagarahaavu' remains still fresh in my memory and seeing it nobody would ever say it was his first movie. He has done a couple of Tamil films- one of them was for Sridhar and one for actress Lakshmi! His typical 'brothers separated and reunited theme with fledgling Rajani, 'Sahodarara Savaal' was also watchable. I appreciate my Kannada sodararu commemorating his contributions with an effort like this.
What is this nonsense, Rediff: "To celebrate his first birth anniversary, his family and friends are hosting a three-day film festival starting today."
He is a sweetheart. He was gracious and always kept himself away from cine-poitics and gossips. A great man and a great loss to all of us. Still can't believe that he is not with us.
All Indian friends do watch his old movies especially 'Nagarahavu', 'Bhootayyana maga ayyu' and 'Muttina Hara'. You can never get such movies in any other language movies. "Nagarahavu" is the story of a angry young man who spoils his life by not making right decisions. 'Bhootayyana maga ayyu' is award winning movie of two guys in a town one who is very rich and another poor but swabhimani. 'Muttina Hara' is patriotic movie of a soldier. All 3 are my all time favourite.
