didn't impress me much
by Subith Premdas on Sep 26, 2010 08:44 AM  | Hide replies

This is one movie where i have seen actors using thrissur accent very well and closer to the original. movies like thoovanathumbikal and others, i felt the thrissur slang was exaggerated a lot. For outsiders it might make no difference, but since i'm from thrissur and i know how people talk there, pranchiyettan has been successful in that. It's easier to imitate kozhikode, kottayam and trivandrum slang. But thrissur is so hard to imitate. It's more musical and tender than others. In that sense this movie has done its part very well.

Now about the movie... it didn't impress me much. Among the two superstars in mal, i'm very much inclined to mammooty side and i hate mohanlal. Still I would say shikar which i saw last week was a bit better.

Thrushur accent is easier to grasp and apply than others. Take it from someone (Kollamkaaran) who has lived in the midst of all the three!

One Real hell of a movie

This is one hell of a movie. Spontanious and great comedy. Sure this will build up a cult image in the future like hariharnagar, godfather nd all. No one scene was made with intention of crackin up crude jokes, but the humour was in built nd managed to bring laughs in the hall. whoever says tis is a dissappointin movie ds not know wat real nd good movies are. This is certainly better than elsamma nd i hav not seen shikkar yet. Grt t see Ranjith keepin on his track nd thinkin different.

a movie ds not need a story always to make a good movie. loud speaker dd not hav a story either but was n excellent stuff. bsides pranchi is much better than movies with crap stories like porkiri raja, yakshi, etc. pranchi comes with a well written script nd a briliant direction.

Pranchiettan PEDAyayitnd...
by wills on Sep 13, 2010 10:20 PM  | Hide replies

Hi frnds, a few yrs back i had sworn i wouldnt ever go to theatre to see the "SO- called Super stars" acting.... and of course i kept that, till this Sep 10th.... and whenever my frnds call me for any superstar movie, i used to reject it because i believed its just being a Dirty game.... But this Sep' 10th... I should say that i was mistaken... It was very accidental, to watch the movie Pranchiettan on its first day itself.... We didnt have any clue wat the movie is based on, or any such details... We wanted to see a film on the Eid holiday, we just guessed, it would be rush in all the theatres of Thrissur town... so we opted to go to a theatre which we believed would be comparatively less crowded... Nd it was second show tooo...
But the theatre was so crowded, our car couldnt even enter the road, where that theatre located... It was all JAMMMMEd...

and the film.... HATS off to ranjith and crew... Im sure Pranchiettan is gonna make it high, this season... It was very unexpected... a film well told... well played... Mammootys showing a great courage for such diversification... We should agree that... and these days almost all of its endaevours tastes success... It was more a team work, than a one-man show...

we expect more from Capitol Theatres...

Freinds ..I am not sure why such an excellent movie has a poor marketing strategy ..for instance in trivandrum, 90% of the space is occupied by Shikar and elsamma posters

COOL!
by michael joseph on Sep 13, 2010 01:32 PM

Mammokka is truly the titan of indian cinemas. The movie was a treat and had the usual flair of what a malayalam movie is to be , if compared to yesteryears lalettan finest.
great effort renjith and the kudos to the saint as well.

Like to see more of these, than the 'sikar' types. This is a good malyalam flick. Sorry Padmakumar and my dearst laletta!
