ENDHIRAN - A REBIRTH FOR RAJINI, THE CHARACTER PORTRAYER
by B C on Oct 22, 2010 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

Much have been said, reviewed, analyzed and praised about Endhiran. My intention here is not to write the review, as it is better to leave that to the experts. But, what amazes me is the rebirth of Rajni in Endhiran more than Sivaji. What we missed all these years were the full potential of Rajni the Chartacter PortraActor. This has been best brought out by Shankar the most admired Director for his entertainment value as his energy and the freshness he brings to every script he adopts since his directorial debut.Polimer TV showed Mullum Malarum yesterday 16th October. Trust me; the performance of this Superstar was refreshing so to speak. And, we discovered the Rajini of the 80’s here in Endhiran. There are handfuls of movies I enjoyed watching Rajni simply because these were the movieswhere the Story line, Direction and sequences exhibited the inner actor in Rajnikanth. Citing a few for instances, Mullum Malarum, Jaani, Dharmayutham, Thanikkatu raja, Moondru Mugam, Moondru Mudichu Aarilirundhu Arubadhu varai, Annamalai, and Thalapathy were some of the movies his potential as a serious actor were fully exploited. The viewing of these films was more enjoyable than his also-rans that were many. Thanks to Shankar, the task master, the thinker, the adventurer, risk taker, the most valuable director to the Tamil film Industry for bringing back Rajni.I am only happy to share that we were the first few to watch the movie in Dubai on the first day and this is the first ti

Endhiran/Robot
by B C on Oct 21, 2010 06:18 PM  | Hide replies

Kalanithi Maran, who is the producer of Endhiran/Robot, which is turning out to be the biggest hit in the history of indian cinema, did not expect that Robot would receive such an overwhelming response in north india.
He invested crores of rupees on the movie in complete faith having Superstar Rajinikanth’s charisma and the script alone in mind. His calculations did not go awry and he is in all smiles. In fact he himself did not expect that Robot, the hindi dubbed version of the movie, would get a roaring success in north.

Though he has 23 channels in south to promote the movie he was not able to promote the movie well in north as he does not have a hindi speaking channel. Despite all these drawbacks the movie is a huge hit in bollywood.

The sci-fi flick, which was released in three languages, will now be released in a 3D English version for the international market.

“We had been under pressure to complete and release Endhiran in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. But now, considering how well it was received in the North, we are looking at an English version for the international market.” says Sun Tv COO Hansraj Saxena.

"Seven minutes of footage is already in 3D, and will be added to the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions in the coming days. After the huge success of the movie, We are now looking at Tamil to Hindi, and Hindi to Tamil projects,” added Saxena

EndhiranRobot is indeed did not reach the expectations of the North Indian movie lovers. It’s just a hollow hype Sun Pictures trying to convey to the movie lovers by depicting a reckless investment being made for the movie, which is quite evident looking at the quality of the movie, except the climax part, that credit must go to the CGI team. The producers are manifesting a disguised smile though the agony is hidden deep within inner self, as the revenue is not as per the estimates; it’s a catastrophic disaster at the box office in the northern region.

Having a monopoly in the southern region with its network of 23 channels have torpedoed the viewers with its nagging distressful promotional campaign is quite evident of the fact that endhiran has failed to achieve its task. Its not just an individuals opinion and it a consensus about the outcome of the movie.

There is no strong script and it manifests the lack of creativity of the director, since the trump card for him was always been Sujatha, and no one was able to replace him, can also be attributed for this disastrous script.

Except few dialogues, there is nothing in the movie and please do not hype the movie and it doesn’t qualify to be hyped in such a massive scale.

Endhiran/Robot box office collection 318 crores after 3 weeks

Within three weeks of its release, Endhiran/Robot has garnered 318 crores, breaking all the box office records in India! The film, which has Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and directed by Shankar, was produced by Sun Pictures at a budget of 162 crores.

Endhiran/Robot was released in 3000 screens worldwide and interestingly this film is yet to see the light of the day in countries like Japan where Rajini has a huge fan following. In spite of various reports about Endhiran’ s collections, Sun Pictures remained tightlipped for the first week. Two weeks after the release, it announced that the worldwide collections reached 225 crores for the first time. With 17 days passing, Sun Pictures has now disclosed that the collections reached 318 crores.

The dubbed version of Endhiran in Hindi was released in 800 screens and this has earned 30 crores thus far.

In Tollywood, Endhiran broke the records established by Magadheera within the first week. The Telugu Robo is well-received both in the US and UK as well.

Now, the scenario in Tamil Nadu is mind blowing as Endhiran has raked 170 crores, something that the film fraternity never witnessed.

Sathyam Cineplex’ s Jayendra Banerjee says that it is doubtful if another film will reach these figures anytime soon. Perhaps Rajini may himself break the records, he added. The Hindi version is attracting 80 percent of the audience an

Sun Pictures has embroiled in debunking of the collections of EndhiranRobot. A rational human being can easily weigh in about the collection just taking an example of Chennai Box office collection as base, the stronghold for Tamil cinema, it has garnered just 12 crores in 3 weeks, still confusion is looming large on this sum, but totally skeptical. Then other parts of the state, southern region and north region (disaster), overseas was just a weeklong mania. If you believe in objective thinking, I guess you can make your own analysis about the outcome of this movie.

Again, sun pictures have involved in unethical disclosure of facts about its collection in Hollywood, and there is no possibility of Endhiran surpassing the record collections of Magadheera, this movie had created hysteria for 3 months, but endhiran has dyed down in the process of 3 weeks, it’s a fact.

In Karnataka, the reception of the movie is lackluster and it’s not the normal response. Generally, the response for Rajinikanth would be great but thanks to enlightened viewers have outright shunned the movie and there are no repeat viewers, lesson to be learned the film makers.

The biggest deception from sun pictures is to mount the ticket prices levied on the normal viewers, though would not have worried about the fans of Rajinikanth. This hike in ticket prices have become savior for Super Star Rajinikanth for the current revenue otherwise, imagine about the disaster.

Endhiran (Robot): Rajinikanth juggernaut keeps on rolling

Endhiran (Robot): Rajinikanth juggernaut keeps on rolling

Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Endhiran’ aka ‘Robot’ hit the theatres on 1st October and even into its 3rd week the craze and frenzy around the film refuses to die.

The fantasy fiction is harvesting huge moolah on the cash windows as money continues to flicker in. In Tamil Nadu alone, it has raked in around 150 crore rupees while another 50 crore has trickled in from the rest of southern states. Meanwhile, its Hindi version Robot has done exceptionally well in North and piled up another 15 crore.

Overall, the film has, reportedly, roped in Rs 200 to 225 crore and is still running strong, especially, in down south.

Director Shankar’s bold efforts seem to have finally paid off. Casting a 60 year old for such a mammoth project costing over 150 crore, he did have to bear criticisms and speculations by the cynics, but the same critics are now eating humble pie.

And, surely, there seems to be no slow-down of the Rajinikanth juggernaut as it is likely that the film shall shatter most of the box office records by the time the curtains come down.

The success of Endhiran has reportedly prompted Sun Pictures to dub the film in English. Apparently, the producers want to make it a hit among the international audiences too. And in this effort, they have decided to add a few 3D effect scenes.
