disgraceful comments....
by anuj on Oct 03, 2010 06:49 PM  | Hide replies

thank god people like rajni, kamal hassan, amitabh and aamir etc are not as idiotic and disgraceful as some of their so-called fans are....its extremely unfortunate that their fans do not quite replicate the gentlemanly behaviour shown by them in public..

Please stop insane comparision
by Krishna V on Oct 03, 2010 06:34 PM  | Hide replies

It is perfectly fine for producers to spend money on media to continue singing praising hymns for a movie for weeks togather regardless of its merit. It is also perfectly fine if producers sponsor Rajni fan clubs to take out processions, dance inside/outside theatres, pour milk on posters and all, and given that Robot may not be a bad movie afterall, please donot compare this movie with Avatar. I am sure that a reasonable Tamil will agree that this the most ridiculous and absurd comparision even if a usual Rajni worshipper does not agree due to his/her religious compulsions.
I request my friends who are tamil fanatics and/or who are paid by the producers of 'Robot' not to revert back with vengeance or with anti bollywood, anti Kanada or anti Telegu comments as I do have good regards for Rajnikant as an actor and human being however I genuinly feel that 'Robot' is not worth the hype so created. This is also the experience of many other people who beleived the media hype.

Anjaana Anjaani VS Robot (Hindi) in UK
by Venkatesh Babu on Oct 03, 2010 05:48 PM  | Hide replies

Hindi Version of Endhiran (Robot) is screened for 8 shows / day (Weekday) and 9 shows / day (Weeday / Tamil Version) in the same cine complex (Cineworld, Feltham, UK). Anjaana Anjaani is screened only for 4 shows (Weekday / Weekend). This will tell you the impact outside of South India. If you are sitting in North India and looking for Dubbed movies, then it is your problem. Think the impact of any dubbed version of Hindi movies to South Inida, most of the cases it will run only for 1 show.

Please compare Apples to Apples not Apples to Oranges. Check the revenue of AA Outside of North India, definitely it will be very very less than Robot (Hindi). If you want to see a good movie, watch Amir Khan's movie Peeple Live.

I have not doubt that the Endhiran is going great guns. All I am saying is that the non Tamil viewers across India and overseas are just not interested and hence the tepid response to Robot. Just trying to correct the perception that parts of the media including this site are creating, making it seem like a pan India craze.

It is pity that Robot competed with a crap movie like Anjana Anjaani. If the Robot was not released Anjaana Anjaani would be a superhit in bollywood.

The comparison is wrong, how many oswar wining movies had a good collection in India? This doesn't mean oscar wining movies failed. People will prefer the movies that is played in the native language eventhough it is dubbed. Again to ur notice I mentioned 8 shows vs 4 shows for Robot (Hindi) Vs AA. UK has more north indian people, still AA has screened only for 4 shows. If Robot is a failure, definetly they would not screened for 8 shows for the hindi version.

I am not saying whether the movie is good or bad. Just bringing to attention box office reports on the Hindi Robot. Clearlt the response is underwhelming. PLs face a fact.

NO IMPACT OUTSIDE TN
by Vikram on Oct 03, 2010 05:06 PM  | Hide replies

The full story. Very poor response outside TN. In comparison, Anjaana Anjaani had a 9crore day 1.

Robot (Hindi) First Day Business

Saturday 2nd October 2010 19.00 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Robot (Hindi) had poor first day business of around 1.75 crore nett. The film was affected by bandhs at many cities in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Most of the business came from the Maharashtra belt as North India performed badly and South has the regional versions of the film which left little space for the Hindi version.

The film has does actually have good reports from most places but as start is low it will be interesting if the film can actually translate the good reports into good collections.

Wat site u mean, there are lot of fanatics sites..Go and see the verdict in CNN IBN or times now etc..

But opening it might not have performed like other big hits in Hindi..coz basically lot of northies dont like Rajini..But in the long run i am sure it is goign to beat all the records. I am not even the fan of rajni but i this movie is really nice..Good try for a indian movie. How many times in the past we have lonnged to see a nice graphics in indian movie like hollywood. You should appriciate it. Go and watch this movie with family and kids, i am sure they are gonna enjoy it.

Box Office*: Endhiran opens big in Tamil Nadu, trails Anjaana Anjaani in other parts of India
Friday, October 01, 2010

Oct 1 saw release of the biggest Tamil film ever, Endhiran the Robot, starring Rajnikanth.

And as expected, Endhiran has made opening records in Tamil Nadu and recorded excellent collections in AP. In Karnataka, the collections are limited by the KFCC chamber regulation of limited prints for non-Kannada movies.

The film starring Rajnikanth and supported by Aishwarya Rai and Danny Denzopa. and billed as biggest release ever is however having a tough time in rest of India where even an ordinary Bollywood release Anjaana Anjaani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra is registering higher collections despite mixed reports, especially in metro multiplexes of Bombay, Delhi, Chandigarh, Calcutta, Surat etc.. However the same was true for Shaad Ali's Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom (Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta) in 2007 which released opposite Sivaji the Boss. Outside the south, a JBJ which was a Bollywood flop, had outperformed Sivaji the Boss in much of India and overseas.

Speaking of overseas, in UK, Enthiran has reportedly taken in over £50k from preview screenings. It may be able to do 300k pounds weekend. If so, that will be a record for Tamil films, though not for Indian films overall. Anjaana Anjaani may also be looking to do a similar ballpark there.

Perhaps it might be a good idea that Bollywood also gets a cue from Rajni's and Shankar's innovative ideas/expertise and starts making something good.As we know, the current kachra (glorification sex, nudity, infidelity, khichdi music/lyrics etc.)coming out of Bollywood is not worth admiring.
