or any other European or American film festival or at the Paris, Milan or New York fashion shows has long become the acme of achievement for Indian 'stars'.
But ask any regular western visitor to any of these shows and chances are that he/she will have very low recall for any of the Indian 'stars' and will mix up Indian and Congolese 'stars' !!!
The giant body of Indian movie/fashion watchers though will blink in disbelief on learning that Congolese or Central African 'stars' are as common on western ramps as the Indians !!!

Why should we care what westerners think! Fact is we all know that westerners are way ignorant about Indians and why should we rate the popularity of our actors thru their eyes.

As is the public's love, so is their deep-rooted jealously towards STARS; for they live the life which the common man can only dream of!!

The Indian general public sure might have jealousy towards the rich (and that includes the 'stars') but there is little use in trying to ignore the fact that they are also completely ignorant about their 'stars' actually being inconspicuous and irrelevant on American and European ramps !!
And as for names of African stars on european ramps, do keep an eye open the next time you watch fTV. You will notice dozens of them ! In comparison, Indians are hardly present there !!

Piri is right, here in Paris - as far as Cannes is concerned no one talked about the Indian stars, and by no one I meant the media. The only mention I found of India was Shekhar Kapoor's name as one of the members of the Jury, which selected an Iranian movie for the Palm d'or award.
Iran and Algerian filmmakers are more talk here than Indian ones, and they produce movies worth a thousand watches.

Re: According to Rashmi, Mallika was very down-to-earth.

Amount of clothing worn by an actress is inversely proportional to her acting talent. Now stop blaming poor Mallika.
