it is high time we abolish the censor board...
by Bene Izraeli on May 13, 2010 03:02 PM  | Hide replies

censor board should only recommend / categorize or rate a film and not use any scissors any more. india is a progressive country and in the light of the changed circumstances, the indian audience has evolved to such a degree that the so called 'moral police' is causing more damage. why should a group of three/four people decide what india should watch and what india should NOT watch? producers and directors, by and large, are sensible and know their limits and what could be accepted by the indian cine goer. so..thats it..we should scrap this hackneyed institution altogether. at the most it may rate the movie like U,A orU/A or X or R like in the usa. Jai Hind.

Indian people are so matured, i think we dont need judges in court if only one person can tell if the case is in whose favour, grow up man, we need to have censor board, and the movies should be family oriented, if u wanna watch porn, watch porn, why do you expect a bollywood movie to be a soft porn. We still have our culture intact, however the world goes up. Dont follow the west please, they have been best, and also they have been worst as well. We can take out the best and leave the rest in west.

abdul, i dont wana be overly critical but i see the orthodox and stubborn values imbibed in you are talking here. well i'm very much a grown up man, both physically and mentally. but my point is, we are hypocritic when it comes to sex. now every second film is showing lip to lip kissing. so much that even shabana azmi smooched nandita das on lips in 'fire' and the censor board (on whom guys like you rely for the so called cultural protection) passed it without cuttting an inch! its a different stories that hindus also have abdul nazeers and they - shiv sena- forcibly stopped the film from showing, obviously by illegal means. i dont at all mean we should ape the west. but the scenes in kites are sure gona be much more than what you call 'soft' porn! why blame films, do you watch tv series and ads? they are equally raunchy! i know fanatics like you want to revert the hands of the clock but rest assured it is out of your hands. god bless you!
