The Story Streatches - Katha Valiyunnu
by puravoor krishnakumar on May 13, 2010 03:13 PM

Though the ardent fans beg to differ, it's a fact that Sathyan is in the twilight of his career. The moment he started off taking up the scripting himself, the quality of his films started waning. Though it was commercially successful and hailed by critics, Bhagydevatha was a torture to watch. He is trying to fill in movies with caricatures and the script is nothing but very preachy... On the other hand this one - is a blown up version of one thread from one of his older movies - "Kanalkattu". The native charm and simplicity of his films are long gone... Now it's more card board or plastic than natural

Sathyan's Magic Touch : But a bit repetition all the time
by Prabha subhash on May 11, 2010 10:41 AM

yet to c this movie..but some points
1) Sathyan Anthikad does story telling in the best way, keeping to the basics
2) Sticks to Homely stories...characters are all around the neighbourhood
3) Hero is never a super-perfect..always down to earth, makes mistakes (as Human)

But repetitions

1) An Inter-religion or runaway marriage is a Hallmark for Sathyan
2) All the trobules from family members and solved towards the end
3) Always the earlier generation(Father, Mother) is right..Achunte Amma, Vinodyathra, Bhagyadevatha, Veendum Chilla...

The same old faces in Mal industry!
by sandeep kumar on May 10, 2010 07:36 PM  | Hide replies

I am a half-Mal techie in blore,a nd i have seen a few mal films. But i have not seen any new talents both in fem and male, and its the same old actors and directors. The stories seem dated, even though they are realistic. Its time to inject a dose of mordernity into Mal films, else they will reamin destined to pick up awards at art house festivals. What film needs is wider audience who crave entertainment. Take a lesson from bolly which was really bad in 90s but these days there are fresh scripts and new talent. Ex housefull was an out and out comedy, and Badmaash company was a con thriller. Both different yet both rocked!! And great acting as well. Mal needs all this to go forward

with due respect to ur tastes, agreed dat malayalam movies need to go forward. But citing examples of housefull and badmaash company, in reference to this sathyan anthikadu movie seems really ridiculous. There r gems frm bollywood like taaren zameen par n 3 idiots. But pls dont bring houseful to that league. What exactly was so 'rocking' about housefull? Prefer kadha thudarunnu anyday which shows 'slice of life' cinema to housefull. But then everyone have their own tastes

Sandeepee, thampiyaliyaa.. just watch Housefull like a Badmaash... If time permits, watch some Hindi vs Malayalam movies
HeraPheri - RamjiRao Speaking
Gardish - Kireedom
GolMal (new Ajay one) - In Harihar Nagar
- Poochakoru Mookuthy

Have some body count the time you laughed in both the movies..
Or even compare Paresh Rawal with Innocent ..
