you know the film industry in india is very dynamic. these days they sell TV rights in advance, as well cinema rights and music rights are well sold in advance at premium.

They recover their money by selling rights. You don't go to theater, but watch it on TV. Producer demands anything between (7-10Cr.) for a movie featuring stars. while movie movies you also watch advertisements on TV and go to buy that product. so ultimately you pay to producers indirectly. This is how chain works
People make films thinking that they are making a hit...And when a stupid film like Housefull becomes a semi-hit or whatever....many more people think that they can also churn out such nonsensical stuff and still become hits.

I dont think the verdict is based on the profit made. Maybe the 'flops' made profit due to relatively low cost of making but did not run long enough to call itself a hit. Anyway, this article is an amateurish and does not go into the business aspects in detail.

The producers earn their profits as soon as the movie is sold to the distributors, 90% movies are flops on the basis of days it spent it the theatres but 90% movies earn their cost in the first 5 Days of its release, rest is profit all profit. foolish movies like shaapit, phoonk earned double of its cost which tells the whole story. Its the audience who bears the loss if the movie is bad.
I believe that, whom so ever giving review on Rediff is not having knowledge of bollywood n hollywood. So dear please ogo n learn that first.....Because I see ur Verdict which does not make any sense....So please dont do that.
