Amit is Amit, he just crumbled to the pressure of being Kishore's son, and for Kumar Sanu he is the nasal version of kishore.

He had the burden of being the master's son, but the man is a recluse. He had his years of glory, but it was his own sweet decision to step out of the limelight and work only with a few close one's like RD. After RD's demise, which was actually a second blow to him after his own father's loss, he made himself more unavailable to hindi movie music, and concentrated on live shows. Then he started promoting his younger brother Sumit, who has a long long way to go. He's occasionally seen in a few reality show these days, but a personal feeling is his voice sounds so matured these days, he should try for a second innings.

Why bringing Kumar Sanu ?
by Debasish on May 05, 2010 02:18 PM  | Hide replies

Quite surprised to see that some people unnecessarily bringing Kumar Sanu's name here. Amit Kumar is undoubtedly a gem & Sanu is good too. Why do you guys alywas make it a practice to comapre one with other, Amit with Sanu, Sachin with Lara & so on. Each individual has his/her own credentials & merits/demerits. Sanu is never a xerox of Kishore, whereas Amit is almost that. Thats quite natural b'coz he is Kishor's son. Sanu's original voice in his initial days reminded the singing style of Kishoreda, but later he changed his voice a lot to come out of Kishore-copy icon. His voice during his peak period of "Sajan", "Bazigar"..and so many never had any relation with Kishor-da's voice. It was completely his own voice, which again became a voice to be copied & Babul Supriyo did it. Later Sanu changed his voice too much & it became little nassal, which some people didn't like. Anyway, it's totally a differemt subject & topic. Don't compare one with the other. When Sanu came, atleast 7/8 Kishore's followers were struggling in the market- Abhijeet, Sanu, Amit Kumar himself, Vinod Rathod & so many.. At that time Sanu hit the top, it's his credit. There is no need to dethrone Sanu, just to highlight Amit. Amit is a jewel again, by his own quality.

Hey Debasish. Go have some rest man!! Sanu never reminded anyone of Kishore's singing style. Period !! Sanu had his own junk singing style, which did not last long, thanks God. "Little nasal" !! Sanu was all nasal !! Sanu had been long dethroned because of his unprofessionalism and lack of talent. Abhijit stayed on to render many a heart-touching gems in his own voice. And Amit Kumar has always been a gem. Very recently he did it again with "Dekha Jo Tujhe Yaar, Dil Mein Baji Guitar'. And Sanu now spens a confused retired life and high talks in some Bengali live shows. Grow up Debasish !! Nobody counts Sanu among the greats! If you love his voice, I respect your choice. But lets stop there and do no try to generalize your admiration for the nasal Sanu.

Hi Lastman Standing (against Sanu),
So, you still fall intio the category of unncessary comparison. You guys can't refrain yourself from comparing each other. That's your problem. Does it cause any harm, if you want to praise Amit without criticising Sanu ?Yes I like Sanu in his peak form, it doesn't matter you respect my choice or not. I would suggest you to come out of your so called biased mentality & listen Ashiqi, Sajan, Fool aur knat, Bazigar or any of the songs of that era. If you still find these waere worthless & all nasal, I strongly recommend you to consult with an ENT specialist, your middle ear has lot of fluid accumulated for long time & it is causing pressure mismatch between 2 sides of eardrum. Apply Nasivion thrice daily. Meanwhile let me take some rest, as you advised. After you get recovered, try to listen "Jab koi baat bigar jayee" and "Mera dil bhi kitna pagal haye" sung by Sanu.

Just explain the untimely demise of Kumar Sanu or should I say Kumar "Shanunasik". LoL. He even tried with the rendition of Pannalal Bhattacharjo's devotional songs with "incorrigible" pronunciation. It took just a few years for good music listeners to find out his flaws and his name has been flushed out thoroughly. He was last seen begging for a song at the doors of Yash Chopra.

Sanu's voice is the best, after Amit, among the present lot but he does not have such talent to make a poor tune hit. He sang those songs which were tuned marvellous by Anu Malik, Nadim-Shravan, Rajesh Roshan, Anand-Milind etc which if anyone would sing would have been hit! But to hear him the best among Abhijeet, Udit, SP Balasubramaniam etc

this is rubbish chatterjee da..he supposing started with balika badhu then there was a long interval till nadeem sharav came...in any case i dont agree all music directors are alike..further his voice is closest to kishore da so even he had his USP. You need to succeed that is imporatnt.

is the culprit...despite having good voice and best possible mentor he could not make it. I am surprised to see sanu and others becoming so successful.

i believe he crumbled under the huge burden of being kishore's son.

kumar shanu or any other singer does not even come close to the legend. Kishore is Kishore, the one and only one. He may be copied and imitation is the truest form of flattery which an inferior pays to the superior. Amit is the closest to Kishore. He should have been singing more songs for the movies but something, somewhere went amiss...maybe he does not have the PR of Kishore. He is better than any of the singers now.

Amit Kumar is an unused gem

Amit has been in the exile for quite some time but for die hard fans of Kishoreda Amit
provided the mesmerising remembrance.
The so called xerox of Kishoreda-Kumar Shanu does not even touch the vibrancy and throw in the golden voice of Amit Kumar. How I wish Amit would have sung more songs with R.D.-a real deadly combinatiob

Amit has sung many a great songs with RD, but fans like us can only crave for more.

he does render a song here and there for films, but his last multiple songs for a film was Raju Chacha and Vishal Shekhar's debut Jhankar Beats.

The biggest tribute to Amit Kumar is the fact that many people think that "Aati Rahengi Baharein" from Kasme Waade is a Kishore Lata duet.

Without a shade of a doubt Amit's voice resembles Kishore Kumar the most.

why kishoreda died so early? He could have live another 20 years and for that God can take 100 corrupted politicians. God did injustice!
