Something to learn..

AT was a good movie indeed.storyline was there and natural acting can be seen. Except for the supervisor's role was a bit too much, many people will many point of view. But Final message of the movie was good, hero decides to tie the knot although the worst incident happened..and life goes on,,In reality do we practice that or can we do that? To be with loved ones no matter what happens..
It Was a filling movie, and you don't look at the time while movie is on..

Very touched,

From:G.B.Sivanandam, Dena Bank, Coimbatore.
This is a movie of the unorganised labour sector of our country. It clearly depicts their vulnerbality and their helplessness. The meticulous way in which the workers are picked from the abundant labour force available speaks volumes of the so called saviours of the economy. The shop owners do not allow their workers to sit. This itself is against labour laws. Atleast when there are no customers they should be provided chairs. The inhuman way in which they are housed and fed should earn the wrath of the State Government. One fails to understand what or for whom the Government is functioning. According to Mr.Vasanthabalan, what he has shown is nothing when compared to what is happening in real. The success of this movie - which is an eyeopener or sorts of what is happening in the biggest of textile and other showrooms - depends on what the Government or the Labour Enforcement Agencies do after watching this movie. If they really relegate it to simply giving away a few awards to the producer and others, then they are shying away from their responsibilities, which is what they are capable of. Instead if the living conditions of these little boys and girls improves even by 10 percent then we shall salute this Government and vote it to power once again. Or else we know what to do.
Thanks for reading. Hats off to Mr.Vasanthabalan who has the guts to call a spade a spade. All the best sir.

Best movie I have ever seen, fantastic
by Arvind on May 30, 2010 09:48 PM

This is such an awesome movie, would be a milestone in Tamil Cinema. Whole of my family loved the movie also my friends. I wish this film could be remade in hindi and/or in English, only then more people would understand how good the movie is... Mankind survival under tough conditions with the support of each other's true love is the theme of the movie though the movie is all about market street.

RAMASWAMY GANESAN
An undeserving movie for any appreciation

Angadi Theru is a stupid movie I have ever seen. It is just a tie up of small incidents without any coherence. After so much appreciation for it in media, when I had seen in Udayam complex on 10th May, it was a total disappointment. There was only lot of noice in the movie. It appears that Mr.Vasantha Balan has nothing but only negative thinking. The poor handicapped man prays Vinayagar that atleast his pregnent wife should deliver the baby without any handicap. But she gives birth to a handicaped baby and tells a muslim person that her husband and the society will not have any doubt that she became pregnent only thru that handicapped person. (in one stroke is Mr.Vasantha Balan wants to tell that there is no meaning in praying Vinayagar and to pass on non-sense melodrama to viewers).Similarly it was shown that a servant maid is ill treated by a brahmin lady since the servant maid was just matured and hence she should not move around inside the house. In Chennai with flat system, these habits have gone out long back and Mr.Vasantha Balan is trying to portray something which is not exiting. As a visitor to Renganathan shops number of time, I can surely say things are not bad as it is shown. Even in his earlier movie "Veil", the person failed in life is shown with sorrow all the time rather as a person with some efforts to bring back cheer.People should see tamil cinemas like " Earkai (Nature)" and "Kadhal&

"Chennai with flat system, these habits have gone out long back" - utterly wrong. The picture sequence, brahmin family, palatial house, aachara mami, hayaagreeva performing head-of-the-house, poor maid - I can bet in such a sequence, even with "Chennai Flat-system", they will not let her stay in the house till the madi is gone. I'm not supporting them, but I'm saying that Ramaswamy is wrong here, its still prevalent. May be they don't see Madi for their own daughters in "chennai flat system", but for that poor girl, the picture showed the real reality. No exaggeration there.
And about the film, it was a negative film, that was how its mentor wanted it to be, just because Mr. Ramaswamy is a cheerful person (who thinks Ranganathan st shops are not as bad as they are ), doesnt mean the film should turn cheerful, heroic, the hero goes around winning lottery, buying SMStores and a good climax kind of thing. Atleast the film didn't end in a tragedy, but ended in a realistic positive note.

Kudos to Vasantha balan and Negative marks to Mr.Ramaswamy Ganesan kind of cheerful people who turn a blind eye to reality, and always want a heroic ending.

Who cares for your rants, ninny? First of all, you dont have enough sense to evaluate a good movie and hence your rants. No one is going to take any notice of your ravings and millons of people will continue to appreciate this great movie. Begone, nitwit.

Woman prays to Vinayagar and baby was not good, so direction is not good is it?
Ramaswamy, in Titanic, you remember how many people hold the hand of priest and say prayers, still they are shown as dead.... so Stephen Speilberg is not good director??

Population Explosion in our country.
None can be blamed. When there are too many mouths to feed, quality of living will definitely go down.

Instead of blindly channelizing ire on the Saravana Stores or its likes... we need ot think why do we have this situation first of all. If our fathers and forefathers were intelligent and had not got so many children.. average of 5 per family.. would we have this situation?

THe owner of thes tores is shown as merciless, and illtreats the employees... not giving them a decent quarters to live, not enough space or food to eat.... but at the same time, the salaries of these people are making so many families live. The environment oculd be more kind to the workers... but even if it is, there will still be problems...

I hopethis is a wake up call for Indians.. and stop prodcing child afte child with no means to support them.

This boy baby syndrome should go... because of this only people keep getting child after child hopeing for a boy...!!
God.. let my country awake!

A Smile and a Clap . . . .
by antonyarulvalan on Apr 23, 2010 03:26 PM

No doubt AT is a Realistic film . But friends the director should've been stern enough to let the BGM and songs to be more 'in place' . The film wants to be realistic . When in reality , just like Madhur Bandarkar's movies (except 'Chandini Bar') , it falls short of potraying reality in its rustic royal raw form . I loved VEYIL . It was Raw . But AT , is just passsable , and can come no way near Vasanthabalan's debut , Veyil . The Actors save the movie . Completely . Starting from the foot-fighting scenes to the scene at the Godown (where Kani gets her first smack in the film) right upto the tear-wrenching scene where Selvarani commits suicide , the actors are the saviours of this film . In particular , those often missed supporting characters - Selvarani , Marimuthu , Annachi (the owner ! yes , he was brilliant) and the unforgettable Karungaali !
The actors deserve all the praise that one showers on the director . To put out a bold face , to daringly step into the crises of Life , to smilingly take up all the daunting trials of the day , to Live with Dignity Kani and her friends will always be our teachers .

But the fact remains , it could've been better , with the same cast !
