known (and one of the youngest) institutions in America that promotes music. It offers space for music and musicians from across the world, from every nook and corner where music or what goes for it is found.
For example, in March 2010 alone, the institute (which holds concerts on Friday and Saturday nights only) is going to host shows by musicians from Mali (how many Indians have heard of this country?), Puerto Rico, Ireland & Uruguay. There are no shows by native American performers meaning the centre is almost exclusively (and perhaps condescendingly) meant for lesser known musicians and their music from across the world. Expectedly, the attendance for these concerts is almost wholly made up of expats from those countries whose music is featured.
However, none of such details will ever get reported in anything that gets reported in the mainstream Indian media about the 'luminous and distinguished achievements' of Indians in the west !!
