MNIK - is third film in Bollywood history to touch 150 crores wor
by shanker singh on Mar 05, 2010 01:09 AM

This week, ‘My Name is Khan’ joined an elite group of successful films and became only the third film in Bollywood history to touch 150 crores worldwide within 10 days of release.

Trade Analysts expect that within the coming week, the film should become the highest grossing Shah Rukh Khan film ever.

Only Shah Rukh Khan could do this in February, rather than in the summer holidays or the festive Oct-Dec period. But despite controversies and blasts, MNIK has done record business for this time period. Just to put it in perspective, within 10 days the film has done business double the size of any other Bollywood film ever released in a February.

The film is still running strong across international markets. The film is already the biggest Bollywood film of all time within 10 days in the UAE, South Africa, Holland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, East & West Africa, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand & Mauritius.

In the Middle East, the film has not only smashed all existing Bollywood records within 10 days, but even beaten the Fox Searchlight’s previous highest grosser ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE and Egypt. Fox Searchlight is proud of this achievement and according Mario Haddad, Head of Empire International Middle East, “The film has incredible legs. The drop in the second week is less than 10%. We expect it to have a long run here. Due to the demand, we are opening in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria on March 10th.”

MNIK is a flop not average!
by Rizwan Khan on Mar 04, 2010 10:11 PM  | Hide replies

It was sold for 80crores plus 25crore promotion. So total investment is 105crors.

So far it has generated the following figures..

India. 64crores.
Overseas. 20crores.
(overseas figures are all gross so a gross figure of 40crores is actually 20crores net).

So total revenue generated by MNIK is 84crores!! So far there has been a loss of 21crores. No movie which makes a loss can be called average!!

84crores india overseas combined.!!

3idiots has around 400crores.

Movie sold for 100crores.

India 70crores.
Overseas 40crores. (20crore NET)
(overseas figures are all gross so net figure is 20crore)

70 20 = 90crores.

10crore loss!

For it to be a hit it must generate 50% more than its investment. which is 150crores. Calling it average is being kind, it is aactully a flop which has made losses

KCK AND Teen patti - Flop
by shyam narayan on Mar 04, 2010 12:14 PM

Karthik Calling Karthik is struggling at the box office with heavy weekday drops. The film will see a heavy drop of screenings in week two and lifetime business will find it hard to cross the 20 crore nett mark.

The collections have dropped heavily at the multiplexes even where it started well while single screens were low from day one.

Teen Patti is a disaster and will taken off many cinemas after its first week. The collections from Tuesday onwards have seen huge dropsfrom weekend business which was very bad.

Hrithik Roshan is real hot super star!
by Deepak Raje on Mar 03, 2010 07:05 PM  | Hide replies

Among Indian actors Hrithik Roshan is the most talented actor. Brilliant acting, great physic, extremely handsome plus larger than life persona...a real superstar! On top of that such a great human being. Shah Rukh is the worst Indian actor with his repetitive plastic fake emotions and his big mouth fake self praises. Luckily Media has kept SRK alive but very soon audience will throw him out. Hrithik Roshan is the only Indian actor who can travel and rule the movie world from Bollywood to Hollywood.
