ACTUALLY critics of the movie were hurt. Every one is expecting a conflict where maniratnam will make ravan and sita lip t lip kissing and then create a conflict out of it and make programmes by provoking innocent people. But raavan doesnt do that, it is a strait forward social message movie with scenic beauty, hence critics were upset. Otherwise an excellent beauty of the movies is its screen play and beera. I need to see telugu version to see vikran in abhishek role, might be even better, but abhishek did excellently as well aish with vikram doing justice to his role.
Unfortunatly, all negetive comments comming here were from all those who did not even saw the movie at all. The film neither had anything to do with Ramayan, It is just a simple movie, where a village boy who tuns tobe a naxalist due to the circumstance like sister abducted and raped by police etc and he is helping poor. on the contrary a sincere sp whose wife is been kidnapped by them who is searching for her. when the girl who was kidnapped knows about his sister issue, generally develops a softcorner and so on so forth. Really an excellent movie because this is how all poor people becoming naxalites, maoists or terrorists either by circumstance or for the sake of money. governments instead of answering those questions raised, provoking police force who were also in turn normal middle or poor class citizens who provoked in the name of national patriatism etc. BEERA SHOULD BE THERE with beera and ragini attacking the political system.
Actually, the film name is doing ijustise to the film rather than script and action. First of all I will tell you all guyes and gals dont see any Maniratnam movies in DVD,CD OR on internet. If you see then you feel bored. When I saw Gitanjali first time for a week i am the only person saying that it is going tobe biggest hit. everybody from my friends were laughing. but then after a week it became biggest hit for nagarjuna career those times. I think when title raavan was chosen we expect fully negetive shade on the movie, but it has got reversal circumstances. the title should be beera-the good,bad & ugly. watch the movie in theatres then you will enjoy screen play, natural and aish beauty.
Ravan been the most Visually delightful experience for me but Ravan been the most Stupidest and Self Indulgent movie I ever saw. Mani Ratnam just Lost His track in Order to be Different or Great.

Mani Ratnam has run out of ideas and creativity. in future he will make a film with Mahatma Gandhi as a British agent and Villain, and Nathuram Vinayak Godse as a hero.

IT SEEMS YOU DID NOT SAW THE MOVIE. FIRST SEE THE MOVIE AND THEN COMMENT. APART FROM THE TITLE IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RAMAYAN.
One more tamil foolish movie. Wasted 150 rs and precious time.Once again i really feel cheated for the bloody hype.This has happened for the 4th time . First it was shivaji then dashvataram then bheema and now ravan.
Its hightime people especially tamil folks wake up to the tactics of our stupid tamil film industry.They are hyping stupid movies and fooling all of us again and again.
They have restricted all other language movies and are forcing tamil people to watch only these crazy movies. All foolish tamil movies are becoming superhit for namesake because of no competition and not because of any greatness.Since all other language movies are restricted our people have no choice other than to watch these crap tamil movies. This, our folks are projecting as a strength by our self declared legends in tamil filmland who are basically there to fool tamil public.
It outright stupidity of our people to keep supporting this idiotic legends and in the process our theaters are going bankraupt.
Time has come to open for competion in tamilnadu. We cannot be eating rice sambar all along and all other state people enjoy good movies from everywhere. Competion can only improve things in kollywood.

I dont feel cheated, tamil films are quite good after Hindi films tamil films are 2nd best with telengu films. Nice stories, nice concept are there. nice songs, what more you require. You are only stupid to think like this.
