Re: Re: Bad Review by Tehzeeb Merchant on Jun 22, 2010 12:06 PM I think people need to remove themselves from the preconceived notions and reviews and just go for the movie without any expectations, as one should with most bollywood films. I did, and for someone who hadn't even heard of this much awaited Mani Ratnam film till the day I actually came across it (much after its release) and decided to indulge in a bollywood film after a very long time, the 2 star ratings made no difference to me. And needless to say, I enjoyed every moment of this visual treat. That the mis-casting, bad performances and lack of narrative was such a surprise to everyone is surprising to me. What did people expect from Abhishek- a sudden talent to fall from the heavens? He does try though. And Aishwarya's eyes, skin and Sabya attire set against the breathtaking backdrop somehow overshadow her lack of acting skill, and even her sometimes over dramatic/bordering-on-annoying performance. As for Vikram the famous south Indian hero- I had never even heard of him so for me he was just another mediocre/comical Hindi movie actor. That people can't shut off to the lack of intellectual stimulation in the screenplay and bad adaptation of the epic is also surprising to me, although an immaculate narrative would have made a perfect film. But somehow the imperfections don't matter and completely get lost within the visual journey of the story, which, for me, is what the film is about. Watch the movie on m

By the name of experiments and excellence mr. Mr.Mani has hurt the Hindu sentiments. In this movie he has shown Ram as bad , Sita as not a 'pativrata' and she tells Ravan that she will stay back with him.Mr.Govinda who has played Hanumanji's role is a big drunkered in the movie and all the bad thoughts possible against the Hindu faiths. So please who are alll with the Hindu faiths and sentiments think twice before even thinking to watch this movie. A big shame to Mani. I here by would like to request all the film makers please do not misuse the freedom that you have as films are the powerful medium and lots of innocent people watch it.They have also shown as if Laxman and his team has r.... Ravan's sys.. This is my personal view about the movie as the personal views of Mr.Mani towards Ramayana

With idiots like Sen reporting on the movie and bunch of us reading it, most of us are waiting to hear from folks who saw it.
Most of them say it's great. I should have known with this reviewer who gave "3 Idiots" a flop review.

For past 2 years, I don't think I have missed any tamil movies screened in this theater. I have seen way better crowds. Going by that last night I was not totally impressed dude. This is the truth.
