Just read on another site that PG Vishwambaran is no more. Why isn't rediff reporting this? He was a top director in the early 80's. Mammotty owes a great deal of his early sucess to movies like Sandyakku Enthinnu Sindooram ( which also gave a boost to Mohanlal). May his soul rest in peace
Bollywood has equated acting with looks, body-building and clothes. ‘Acting’ as in acting comes after these 3 traits. Bollywood actors are not actors, they are entertainers just like clowns in a circus. Barring a few exceptions like Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah rest all are entertainers. The word ‘acting’ has been distorted by Bollywood just like the word ‘Love’. Hence, when they see any overweight Southern actors, they make a hue and cry about it. Coming back to the point, agreed, Jayaram is overweight. He doesn’t know to dance and fight but when it comes to ‘emoting’ and comic timing, he is immaculate. He is a great ‘actor’ as differentiated from ‘entertainer’. An actor can be an entertainer but not vice-versa.

pls dont think that acting hero means only 6-pack muscle show of cleanshaved chocolate boys who born with silver spoon in mouth .. there are brilliant actors who can deliver realistic performances; other than body show and silly romances in brainless stories..
