I agree that Roja is good but over the years hearing the same songs made them monotonous unlike boys which has eternal energy in it....

'eternal energy'?? In Boys?? he he he.... and over years hearing the same songs make it monotonous? Roja came in 1993, Boys came in 2003. So if after 17 years Roja is boring to you.. I can see u hating songs in Boys in another 10 years! :-p

Good point...Do u know how many music directors all around the world have been inspired by Deep Forest? Rahman publicly acknowledged them as an inspiration for his beats in Kadhalan. So what is your point again? U one of the few who didnt know that ?

Nothing before Ilayaraja
by a b on Jun 15, 2010 04:17 PM  | Hide replies

ARR is a Sound engineer not a composer - he is is a dwarf before Ilayaraja. Ilayaraja is a genius - India's / World's best composer. It's a pity that he did not get the recoginition a genius deserves.

grow up kid - know the difference between t20 cricket & test cricket. Sound that's Synthesized with computers does not become a composition - do you know anything about live orchestration and it's effect. Do you know about the qulity of sound and tunes. Ofcourse there's a difference between a fan who knows what music is all about and a fan who just does not know about the quality of music. Stop arguing and start listening to Ilayaraja's compositions - start by listening to "nothing but the wind". It was IR who started showing the world about the fusion between western/ indain music well before ARR.

Ilayarajai is a Genious.
AR Rahman is good in collecting sounds and making a song. Without computer and technology he is almost NULL.

Mr Amit - IR is still there performing like never before. His songs now are even better than ARR's. And his tunes will live in the hearts of people foreever. When you ask where IR is nowadays - that shows about your taste / understanding of music. Music is everlasting and so are the compositions. You cannot ask how one person is performing now when compared to other - this is not a a game where a player scoring tons is the best currently. In fact in music everlasting compositions & melody shows the class of a composer - and IR tiwers above all in this.

Where is he performing?I haven't heard anything. Whatever he's done recently sounds like his old songs. Don't get me wrong IR is a great musician, certainly not the best in the world. whatever gr8 things you have said about IR, millions will say the same about AR.
Read your post again i think you answered your own question. You can not compare artist's across an era. So why pull down AR? This is an article about his show...He might not be the best but is still producing good music. Name one another music composer today who does it !!! Just one.. Pls dont say karthik raja :)

that is very true. Without technology I dont think rahaman could be anything at all. But same is true for ilayaraja. He could do almost nothing with technology.

ofcourse jai ho is best composition than roja
by jahesh khan on Jun 15, 2010 04:14 PM

ofcourse jai ho is best composition than roja for west is concerned. if u made them to listen any of his song they will not like it. but jai ho will. we all sees this song in indian view of music taste. jai ho orchestration is great. listen it carefully. the way the song changes. everythign is beautiful. its a fresh song for them too. it has mass appeal. even if u go to east asia. they all like jai ho.
But for indians jai ho may not be the best.
Because our music taste and west's music taste is different
