Its not very easy to make a political film. This film you can find everything (sex scandal, item song, action like any 90's trash movie) except RAJNITI. Why director took such a powerful actors like Naseeruddin Shah or Ajay Devgan? Why they are not used properly? Total spotlight was on Ranvir, Katerina & Arjun.. None of them are impressive in such a serious film. The woman who played the modern Kunti was pathetic! The film is making money just because of star power nothing else.. Trash movie.

if you say Rajneeti was trash, then i know where YOU belong to. Better keep watching Partner and Life Partner. You are worthy of that only. So inspite of 'stars' like Salman Govinda, why are David Dhawan's movie not making enough money. No film ever made money just because of star power. When you dont even have that basic movie sense, why do you even indulge in one. Its not in your capacity to understand Rajneeti. You keep watching films recommended by Raja Sen

Arjun Rampal & Katrina both were impressive and brilliant acting & look wise. atlast they are getting spotlight as deserved.
I call Rajneeti a smart copy. If someone watched a movie called "Leader" in telugu and had back ground of mahabarata. You can feel the screenplan and story mix of these. It would be been better if the actors were choosen more deligently.

he should have selected those crap Telugu 'stars', right :)A director of the potential of Prakash Jha will not go to even look at a Telugu movie.
Rajneeti is an overhyped film. prakash jha has used publicity stunts to make this film a hit. It was an absolute crap and meaningless movie. Has anyone ever heard of politicians fighting among themselves with pistols. Gangajal was thousand times better than this film. Naseeruddin shah was wasted in this film. And arjun rampal is an ordinary actor he is getting all this hype just becoz he is a friend of another overhyped actor srk. Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Deol are much better and natural actors than these overhyped stars of today. Ranbir kapoor is also an overhyped star. , he was expressionless throughout the film and i wonder why he is getting so many applauds.

i agree with you. The first half was okay but the second half was s.h.i.t. Gangaajal was a fantastic movie and had soul which this nonsense movie lacked. Ranbir looked okay. It seems obvious that good directors after spending some time in the industry start walking on commercial lines instead of thinking about making a genuine movie.

Dear Raj, i can move on with my overhyped critique but it feels bad when a film is not as per your expectations and is publicised on the basis of its star cast rather than its content and subject. To me a good film is the one which can deliver the most sophisticated subject in the easiest way and not in confusing way as in Rajneeti.

His criticism isn't overhyped. It's very evident that Jha has bought all the reviews. It's just a 1 1/2* movie and being bragged as 3-4* movie. It's a commercial crap...

Thanks ranbir for supporting my view. its nice to see that u r not biased even when i criticized the actor who has same initials as your name.
arjun rampal is a useless actor. dunno why d media is hyping him up so much in the last couple of years. the fact is dat none of his films have succeded coz of him. OSO succeded coz of SRK, Rock on coz of Farhan (his brand),housefull coz of Akshay, rajneeti coz of ranbir, katrina, ajay. he is yet to give a solo hit or a hit where he is even remotely responsible for its success. And his acting leaves a lot to be desired.
While rajneeti was not a crap movie like some mindless entertainers churned out regularly, it fell far short of the standards set by Prakash Jha himself. Actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar were wasted, while Ajay Devgan was under-utilised. Ranbir, Manoj and Arjun got ample opportunity to display their talents, although Ranbir failed to display his gradual descent into hell properly. Arjun and Manoj were good, though Manoj managed to go over the top at times. Katrina didn't have much to do, but she managed to do nothing quite well.
Most of the problem was with the story itself. You just cannot condense the Mahabharata into a 3 hour movie and manage to do justice to it. There are simply too many people involved, too many stories, too grand a scale. Prakash Jha didn't do a bad job, but it wasn't exemplary either. Had he concentrated on a political family without trying to Mahabharat-ize it, he would have succeeded. Just because the movie is managing to pull in crowds doesn't make it great, not by a long shot. Compare this to Mrityudand or Gangajal and you know that Prakash Jha seems to be lost here.

The first half was okay. It wasn't just inspired from Mahabharat but even a couple of scenes and dialoges were lifted from Godfather. This made me lose respect for the director of 'Gangajal'. And CM candidates with guns in hand was hilarious. Wonder what happened to Mr. Jha.
