Just watched Chashme Baddoor very recently, and the way he had effortlessly slipped into the character of the forever flirt, with his undying and shameless passion to woo one after the other females as they materialised, is a class act. The latter body of his work only reinforced this free-flowing character-acting. Alas! that breed is fast disappearing...
We have no dearth of such versatile actors in India, but it is so....heartwrenching...to see the so-called 'superstars'who hog the limelight all the while in the form of ads, unworthy high-budget movies. Where are thsoe movies where are those movies that made us sit up and think for days together...movies that were enacted by stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah,Amrish Puri, Om puri, Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi, Paresh Rawal etc etc. Its we who are responsible for not giving due credit to such stalwarts. Lets wake up and not get enthralled by all the glitter and glitz of these fake artists, but support those movies that move our heart, soul and mind!
What a brilliant actor he was! I still remember his efforts to patao Dipti Naval in Chashme Baddoor. Simply superb! Alas! he faded away much before passing away.
