No magic of instruments

All these hindi musicians of the 60's to 80's just relied on singers. There was not much instruments. Many didnt get to hear illayaraja's music. He was a true genius and has inspired even ARR.

If you hear Ilayaraja's songs & RD Burman's songs in 70's & early 80's, Ilayaraja's Orchestration is now where near RD Burman's c lass. Although Ilayaraja's orchestra was far superior than others in the south.

Dear Editor
I am sorry to say that you are too biased when it comes to any reference being made to OP Nayyar and Shankar Jaikishan. Sometime back I wrote a message about Manohari ji playing Sax for songs composed by OP Nayyar and SJ but it has not been published. Very bad journalism

Actually, he was not from North India, but from even North of North India, that is Nepal. But Nepal and North India (UP,Bihar) have one and the same culture because of a long land border (1200 kms I think).

I am sure that he was a UP/Bihar guy who migrated first to Kolkata and then to Mumbai. Because such musical talent only exists in UP/Bihar.

Sorry I can't help it. My thinking is that: if someone is not a North Indian, he is not an Indian. Pure and simple...
