Mohan Lal

Mohan Lal is much more flexible than Mammootty both in acting and movements eventhough the latter maintains a far better body. Don't underestimate Lal looking at his body. Can anyone guess how Samo Hung used to do those action roles with that big fat body? Mohan Lal is so agile and smart ...you can understand it watching his action sequences in many movies. Mammootty is totally un-rhythmic and has a lot of limitations eventhough he is the most handsome oldman around.

It is pathetic to show a commando as a fatty old man considering the fact India has the largest percentage of young people in the world!!! Whoever casted this fatty as commando is insulting the youths of India!!!

well said..mohanlal has to select roles suit for his age and physique..if he does role of a retired military man aged 50, then its' ok..but what's this?? it's kind of insult to those commandos with fit body.. Even awarding the position of Lt.cnl to him, was also a big nonsense..Pls think how our Javans earn that title..An ordinary Javan has to bare what all sufferings while this celebrity could achieve by just acting in film.. it happened only becuase of Shri.A K Antony, MoU Defence... No one can deny that..I can agree that he could spread the glory of military service through the movies.. But awarding such a big title is not justice to those patriots who died/injured in battles..I respect both Mohanlal and Antony, am also a person from Kerala.. but more than that I AM AN INDIAN and I respect our Military patriots than both of them

only stupids like somebody below can think, those who argue against Mohanlal's award - is a Mammootty fan!!!! Dear Fools, I am not even mammooty's fan.. Eariler I've mentioned that mohanlal has more acting skill than Mammootty.. I like both, Mohanlal is flexible where as Mammootty can enlight certain typical roles than anyone - that's the difference btw them.. My favorites are Jagathy, Thilakan and Nedumudy Venu.. But AM FAN of NONE OF THE FILM ACTORS.. They are human beings like us, doing their profession for money and wealth, that's it.. Only illiterates will die for them.. I worships personalities like A P J KALAM, BABA AMTHE, MOTHER TERESA, KIRAN BEDI etc.. what i meant above is honouring Lt.Cnl title to an actor for acting 2 military movies, is SHAMEFUL for the militant leagcy of a country like INDIA..[Thank God, our govt.s didn't award any IPS RANK to Mammootty/Sureshgopi or M.L.A-minister Title to Kollam Thulasi/Saikumar/Vijayraghavan!!]...I don't hope any silly superstar-fan can got this message.. Becuase, it needes an optimum understanding of our socio-political & economic scenario rather than passions on silly masala movies!!!!

One genuine question
by lookisay on Jul 03, 2010 05:40 PM  | Hide replies

If that old man with a colorful wig is famous with hindi movie audience, how exactly it helps the those movie watchers to have an over blown ego and put down accomplished people of from different regions?
AB was just a star in the past -- I doubt if he any longer has the clout to ensure a box office hit. Many people in this forum should get over it.
Btw, I have nothing against AB, I have liked lot of his movies. This message is for his so called fans.. who talk like clowns.

Also when exactly did AB achieve the status of great actor in India?
During "Amar Akbar Anthony" 70s or "Coolie" 80s or KKKG 90s or now? Stop fooling yourselves people. AB was just a Rajinikant of Bollywodd albeit not so successful one :) - Again no disrespect to the man himself, he has achieved a lot but upto the braggings of few clowns here.

You pakistani langoor lookisay,

BIG B got received superstar status even before you born. Watch any of his movie in 70's and 80's all are different movies where he played different roles and all were blockbusters. He is the only HERO in in BOLLYWOOD WHO GAVE 7 BLOCKBUSTER IN AN YEAR.

BIG B is BIGGER THAN ANYTHING and your small brain is too small to understand it.

Then you dont know the story behind how these two got together on screen.

Big B has written about it.

Big B's one long held desire which remained unfulfilled for years was to act with Mohanlal. Big B considers MOhanlal the most accomplished actor in India especially for his ability to effortlessly convey a range of emotions with his eyes and facial expressions without using to histrionics.

Big B requested MOhanlal to make it happen. This movie was the result. Big B refused to take a penny for this movie because he got to act with MOhanlal.

Now this does not mean that one is greater than the other.

It just means that people like you need to grow up.

You northies really want to feel greater than south Indians right. With Rajinikanth you feel jaealous that he earn more than Big B and all Khans put together.

I will tell you one easy way to prove your 'greatness' as North Indians. Do something about educating your lot, something about feedign them out of their poverty so that UNDP does not year after year declare the following in its annual human development report about your north indian greatness...

"400 million people living in eight HIndi speaking states of NOrth India live in worse poverty and backwardness than the 25 poorest nations of Africa"

End of story.

Now go back to worshipping Mayawati's 100000 statues.

Do you know that even Mr. Rajnikant has acted in different roles in the past 30 years and all are blockbusters. Few of his different roles include,
1. Auto Driver
2. Milk Man
3. Taxi Driver
4. Coolie

etc etc.

I think your AB fails in comparison with Rajnikanth in terms of variety of roles.. definitely fails in terms of success.

I think you seriously need to understand the difference between acting and stardom.

lookisay, your brain will be limited to TaxiDriver and MilkMan only.

Have you seen AGNEEPATH? Big B's role was better than Marlon Brando from GODFATHER.

Have you seen
1.DEEWAR,
2.DON,
3.SATTE PE SATTA,
4.SHARABI,
5.NASEEB,
6.SHOLEY,
7.ZANZEER
8.LIST IS ENDLESS HERE

BIG B WHO WON NATIONAL AWARD IN 2007 FOR BLACK (at the age of 65) and PERFORMED EXTRA-ORDINARILY IN 'Paa'

You are comparing RAJANIKANT with BIG B?

If you are literate then visit Big B's blog and learn some editorial skills from him. Or if you would have seen KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI then you should have seen the natural talent and knowledge of this person irrespective of acting skills.

If you have guts then post your comments on his blog with your real ID and then see what happens next.

Challenge Big B on his blog directly if you have doubt in his talent not here on rediff forum like a typical pakicoward.

The last establishes that you have the norht indian culture in your blood, which was transfered forcibly by the Mughals into your great grand mothers.

NOw one quick question, why is Big B giving flops for 23 years if he is so good and popular.

Why is someone like Rajinikanth making hits one after another and earns more money than Big B and all Khans put together?

Whether Rajini is good or Big B, Rajini makes money for his producers and distributors. That makes a lot of difference. All that you wrote does not mean anything if you are a producer losing money year after year on a famous but useless product.

I will grant you one thing, 'kaun banega crorepati' is Big B's best performance in the last 23 years.

Mammootty would have been better..
by strongtea on Jul 03, 2010 11:12 AM  | Hide replies

our military commandos and majors are not that much fatty people..they possess well-maintained and flexible physiques.. Mammootty or Kamal Hassan would be better choice.. I agree that Mohanlal is a great versatile actor; but for this kind of roles, he is not an ideal match.. has limitations in portraying charactor of a military/cop persons..While Mammootty shined such roles..(Inspector Balram, Sainyam, Mission 90 days) Lal has more acting skill, but altogether Mammootty has suitable appearance with his commanding voice and tunned physique..

agree with you that mammootty got an okay physique, but if you see the films kurukshetra and mission 90days, you will be able to know who was better. when mammootty was good in mission 90days, mohanlal was just awesome in kurukshetra. say agree from your heart...and don't go for stupid fans possesiveness.

Why make such movies
by iota on Jul 03, 2010 08:01 AM

Especially when they seem to be made on a real incident, but not then story itself is not true.

Earlier Zameen too was made with same storyline (Abhishek acted in that).

Sentiment is appreciated... well.
