after a slow start on friday rann picked up and saturday and sunday generated excellent collections.at places like bangalore,hyderabad,indore,maharashtra and delhi it did better than ishqiya.whereas ishqiya is holding it stronger in up,bihar and uttaranchal circuit.now wat do u say sukanya verma?
As much as I loved 3 idiots as a film for its wholesome entertainment value, I loved RANN aswell for its own brilliance.
I am not comparing these two movies. I am merely saying that I just loved them both(for different reasons).
It is too early in the year, but I think this movie is national award worthy. I wouldnt be surprised if this was nominated in the best foreign film category at the oscars. (before some of u call me names, pl. watch the movie)
The camera work, lighting, serious cinema may sound familar to RGV movies. But this one has better dialogues, lack of melodrama, good casting, real life characters, sticking with the min point/theme of the movie, underplay, movie length, editing/direction(cutting out the dramatic visuals on tv and showing how the characters react to that news).
Some of his recent movies were made with less preperation or to prove someone wrong. This one has a lot of conviction.

I agree the fact that Varma has given some really trash movies recently...but u cnt deny he also gave us some real masterpieces... RANN belongs to them. people dont judge RANN by getting carried away by RGV's recent movies. It's genunely a masterpiece. As we all know how biased rediff reviews are towards SRK ,KJ and Farahkhan...
I don't agree with your review. It is very biased. Rann is an intellectual and thought provoking film. It's definitely an horrror film because it depicts the horror of journalist like you who can influence readers that they miss out a good film. Honestly Rann is a great film..
