just search for 'vietnam colony avatar' in gooogle and check. there are several threads explaining the similarity seen in the two movies which were released in a time span of 16 years.
one blogger says. "It is unlikely that Cameron has seen Vietnam Colony or will see it ever in his life, but there have been some discussions in the Internet social sites after film critic Rajeev Masand stated it on twitter. Though we know the two films have no connections whatsoever, just keep this resemblance in your mind, while watching Avatar. The thought that our directors are thinking such genuine storylines as the ones in Hollywood is a matter of pride, don’t you feel?"

The story is based inn a colony named as Vietnam Colony, where only goons, and people from the lower strata of society live. This colony is situated in the centre of the city and a construction company owns the place. But the residents are not willing to vacate the place as they dont have any other place to go. Then the company makes a smart move by sending one person (Mohan Lal) to the colony, to be one among them and to tactfully vacate the people. But knowing the reality and by empathizing on the poor residents over there, and after falling in love with a woman from the colony, the Man who was sent by the company, stands for the colony people and fight back against the company.
this is the storyline that we see in avatar too. it might be a coincidence but vietnam colony was released in 1993 and avatar in 2009. speaks volumes abt some of our film makers who can think ahead of those in hollywood.

If they had included 5 songs , some fights where the hero beats up 100 bad guys and a few scenes with comedy actors and women crying at the end it would be a super movie for our audiences.
Titanic was released in 1997 while Avatar is released in 2009. Within twelve years, your funds will be three times in Bank Deposit. So, unless Avatar collection exceeds three times than of Tatanic, it cannot be considered as more hit that Titanic. Simple Maths!

which bank offers 3 times in 12 years..no where in the world..may be 1.5 times...We can calculate equivalent amount through Inflation Index
Just see the story line... Its nothing but the copy of the malayalam movie Vietnam Colony in which Mohanlal, working for a firm, enters the colony to expel the people from there but then later help the people to move against his firm.
In Avatar, the same story has been used with some Hi-fi techniques...

The point here for the movie is not the story but something else which you toots fail to understand..... The main theme of Avatar is the advancements of special effects and not the story...
