I think Inglorious B'stards should have won Best Screenplay and Direction, nevertheless Cameron won it.

Mo-Nique deserved to win!
by Manoj Pardasani on Jan 18, 2010 11:14 AM

Mo-Nique has been the front runner for the Best Supporting Actress award. She has won every Critics Association Award so far this season. Her performance was outstanding.

AVATAR Vs. JURASSIC PARK -1
by Nirkos on Jan 18, 2010 10:57 AM

Avatar is Good Movie .. but not great movie .. very slow ... predictable story ... yes, regarding CGI , 3D effects .. it is number 1 ..but I still think , in terms of ground breaking movies , Jurassic Park -1 will be always ahead of Avatar ..

Rubbish
by nawaz latif on Jan 18, 2010 10:36 AM  | Hide replies

The Award for directing was for Kathryn Bigelow. Cameron admitted himself. The Best Picture award too should have gone to The Hurt Locker. It was certainly unexpected. Sandra Bullock winning wasn't a surprise but it was Carey Mulligan who deserved to win the award.

How In the World was Mo'nique winning unexpected. I think Rediff should do some research before publishing rubbish such as this. Mo'nique has been the front runner to bag every award of this season ever since The Sundance Film Festival Last Year.

The Hangover winning Best Picture Comedy was a deserving win but (500) Days Of Summer was even more deserving.

The Biggest Surprise of the night was Robert Downey Jr. Winning for Sherlock Holmes. And the biggest disappointment was Inglourious Basterds not winning the award for Best Screenplay (Went to Up in the air instead)

Bigb tripathi
Hurt Locker should have own
by Bigb tripathi on Jan 18, 2010 10:22 AM

Even James Cameron admitted it. Avatar winning was a surprise. So was Sandra Bullock's winning. Money and fame won over talent this year at golden globe. Hope Academy does not repeat it.

Rediff without Raja Sen
by Suresh Menon on Jan 18, 2010 10:18 AM  | Hide replies

Everyone loves bashing Raja Sen. For a moment think of a rediff movie section without Raja Sen. You would be reading life-less reviews, opinions etc.

Raja adds a lot of action in there - like it or hate it!

Why do you want to ask the readers? - Especially when you have the Mr.IKnowAll in the name of Raja Sen in your movie dept. Just ask him post his airs&opinions.

useless indian media
by Guru Prasad on Jan 18, 2010 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

dont make news that's not relevant to an indian. no international media like BBC or CNN cares about india. though indian media talks about india as becoming superpower, there is not even single mention about india in the daily headlines of these channels unless there is a terror attack. talk about india and dont bring news on golden globe and kind of things.

Dude, India is slowly becoming a big market for the Hollywood movies - All blockbusters are nowadays dubbed into all the major lanugages and released simulataneously. Revenue from Indian Market is considered a major part of a movie's profit calculations.
Why did you think, these big movies like 2010 (Indian Scientist), Avatar (obvious Indian name) have some thing to connect to the Audience?

It clearly shows that the west is making money out of us on everything, whether its movie market or a stock market or FMCG mass consumption story.

So, what is your frustration about? That they make money from us yet they dont give a shit about us. Is that is? OR do they still call you a slave or coolie?
