Dark movie..
by Saravanan Arul on Jan 24, 2010 02:58 PM  | Hide replies

I felt very queezy after the second half. It was too dark for me and spoiled the fun from the first half.

Also this is a strictly an adults movie. I saw a few kids sitting in the theater who shouldn't be there. It is that kind of a movie.

I think this movie is way ahead of its time and should have released 15 years from now. We are still in the era of flying heroes speaking punch dialogues and mother sentiment songs. What was Selva thinking ? This is kollywood, nobody cares about these kind of movies. All we can say is , good try , but we are not used this genre.

Saravanan, correction, director tried to reproduce what has been done in the hollywood movies for the past 15 years. This movie is in no way ahead of time.

Nothing to be compared with hollywood movies. The underlying emotions that run through the actors even when the dialogues are very minimal is a class of its own.

People here complain that they dont even understand the language and the slang. Whose mistake is to jus kill their mother tongue with all possible adulterations and call what we speak today as TAMIL?

This movie is a mile stone ... sans some flaws which can always be opverlooked given the constraints of budget, schedule, etc.

Stop this nonsense of comparing Eela Tamizhs 5

If the director wanted to bring out a message on the Eela Tamizh issue, he could have done at least if not all of the following.

- Got a Eela Tamizh girl to act in the role of Reema Sen (the actress is not even a native Tamizh, leave alone her understanding of the Eela Tamizh cause)

- Got a Eela Tamizh person to do the role of Partheeban or Karthi or both

- Or simply replace the rivals of Chozha with that of some Ilangai mannan, which covertly anyways will represent the present Sinhala State

Here I'm stopping from any further comments on this sick movie.

What about these:

What about all the tribals and natives who lay their lives to protect the Choza exiles?

What right does an alien, exiled king have to conquer the land of another people, make the natives there suffer in order to save his skin and that of his people

The director is a racist. How else can one justify the way he has portrayed the adivasis? He has reduced all the adivasis to cannibals, butchers, ignorant and naive without any respect to their traditions or values or knowledge.

The character played by Andrea has no significant role in the movie. The movie could have as well moved with just Reema Sen leading the team. Bet Andrea still survives for forcefully inserted songs in the movie.

Ahh...what about the gladiator-inspired game arena. The king and the Holocaustian-lookalike people enjoy and revel in games, where innocent or harmless or defenseless persons are brutally killed. The food used to build the ogre who yo-yos to kill strangers could at least be shared with many a women and children. How crass of the king to encourage such entertainment?
