the movie has lots of laugh and those who feel it must be sent to the oscars, should vote for it and write to the film selection committee. why restrict the laughs and let the oscars review panel also laugh at it.

I would be surprised if it get selected for Oscar, it's for sure not an "Oscar type" movie ! But yes in Indian cine and other awards it'll have dhoom !

Sholay will remain a classic forever....3 idiots is an extremely entertaining comedy...if Andaz apna apna gets released today, it will do as much business....it is better to compare a comedy with a comedy...3i cannot be compared to a sholay or a mother india

I second Anamika. Sholay tickets were between Re 1 and Rs 3 those days. Tickets at INOX in Kolkata (where I saw) are selling for Rs 230, Rs 220 & Rs 200. So, no question of drawing comparisons with Sholay!

dont compare with Sholay....it took 3 years to come my city as Sholay was 70mm and our city had just 35mm cinema....still Sholay was superhit ...today things have been changed....so Sholay ..Mugal-e-Azam...Mother India...Pakeeza....and may be 3I...(??)! However 3I is good too.

I agree with Mangesh. Sholay was lucky to be a hit and extremely fortunate to have been so successful. But, 3 Idiots is a truly deserving hit. People who compare its class with some bakwaas movie like sholay must be truly INSANE! Aamir and Maddy rock!!!

team of three idiots should donate some money to NGO working in education field or they should setup institution to provide education for poor children.
If you really look up close, the movie is not that great movie at all. It is truly an entertainer b'cos of its situational comedies and witty dialogues. Good credit goes to the writer and director for sure. But there are lots of flaws and unbelieveable situations to make it a class movie, if anyone calls it so. The movie was made to make all scenes comic and connect in a intersting pattern, but comparing to classics and it becoming a social message movie or an absolute eye opener to many if anybody claims, is just crap. But surely it was good and entertaining movie among the many bogus being released lately or along with it. I am open for discussions on the flaws and mistakes in the movie. Any supporting or critical comments are always welcome !

Every movie that Aamir acts in now, would be a SUPER HIT. For FEW years, he will have Midas Touch. I loved the movie and also the standards of quality that he maintains. However, I don't agree that the key message, that 'one should pursue what one likes' and forget what others say.
Agree or disagree, it is a fact of life that everything is driven by Demand & Supply. A photographer makes millions, if he is the only one/ (or few), when there is a demand for many.
Further, our interests change over years. By the time you cross 30 yrs, you start loving everything that gives you decent living in the society. We forget whether we were Engineers/ Doctors/ CA/ LLB, etc.
How many singers/ writers/ sports persons make a great living? Have we not heard of past Hockey Players (who played for India) found begging on the streets?
The movie is a hit for the EQ..i.e., entertainment quotient. Don't stretch it too far.
