It is really a great loss with the demise of a good actor like Vishnuvardhan so early (59 is not a big age).I remember that I just had returned from watching the movie 'Vamshavriksha' at States theatre in Bangalore during 1972.When I was going to my father's house in Jayanagar,Bangalore I just saw three young men and at the centre there was a young lad with good physique had put his arms over the other two boys and walking just before me on the footpath.I just found that it was kumar of the film that I saw an hour before.Lately when I had been to Uttanahalli,in Mysore beside Chamundi hills along with my parents I saw Vishnu,Meena and Adigebhatta Shivaram in the temple of Jwalamukhi Tripura sundari devi where a film shooting was going on.I just wished him good success. I have seen some of the movies of him and I like his 'Bandhana',Karna,Nagarahavu,Hombisilu,etc.,Now The kannada film world has lost another eye after the demise of Dr.Rajakumar.I pray GOD to rest the soul in peace for ever
I know all this because i have stayed in his neighbourhood all my life. The above things are also published in magzines and papers. Also, He always used to say that the left hand should not know what the right hand was doing when asked about why he does not publicise his philanthropy ways. Only people who benefitted knew what he had done. Also he treated his fans and all people who came to meet him with the same respect that he would give to his close friends like Rajni, Ambarish. Despite giving great performances in many movies he was not awarded a National award and Padmabushan. He was on par with Mamotty, Mohanlal and Kamal Hassan or any other great Hollywood actor in acting and his style was as good a Rajni. The true character of a human in known in crisis and he never changed after facing many tribulations and remained the same person that he was when he was not a superstar. The Kannada directors are not at par with Tamil and Malyalam directors but it is Vishnu’s determination that he selected the good scripts out of the ones available and delivered those performances. He was always the character in the movie not Vishnu the superstar. And his funeral rites were carried out by his cook and driver who he treated like his own family members. Hope his soul rests in peace and we need more great humans like him in this world. Prem
Vishnu was a great actor and human being. He could have easily acted in Tamil or other language movies and could have become a big superstar in the world like Rajni there but his love for his birth state made him stick on to Kannada film Industry. He was not allowed to work peacefully in the kannada film industry and many a times his films were removed/stalled from screening by Rajkumar fans. He family was hounded by a false propganda by the film industry and Raj fans after the film Gandada Gudi incident although Vishnu had not done anything. He had to stay away from his family and bangalore for more than 2 decades. But he never held any grudges and never shouted from roof tops of the injustice meted to him or called press conferences to defend himself. He always believed that GOd and he knew the truth and the world also knew it but did not acknowledge it. That is a great characted of a very good human being. Many other heroes who faced lesser problems that him left the Kannada film industry and worked in Tamil industy and become famous there prime examples are Rajni, Arjun Sraja etc. He was a great philanthropist and never sent anyone empty handed who came for help to his door steps. Even people who spoke badly about him or did not support him during the malicious campaign against him in the kannada film industry were helped by him in their hour of crisis. Another thing that i observed was he treated junior artists and spot boys on par with seniors.
