I belive in BO results of Rann because I saw it w/o any prejudice & found a well made film but nothing innovative. If you look at BO trend these days, people have become very very choosy. They just don't want to spend 500 Rs on any movie. I could compare my feeling after watching Rann to that after watching some 2009 movies which had BO results ranging from reasonably well to astonishingly excellent and found below. I am not how actors performed etc because off late BO results show something different. Raaz - could feel horror atmosphere Dev D - novel songs & theme kept me interested. Love Aaj Kal - Excellent music & could relate to my contemporaries Kaminay - Was swept out off my feet by this movie. Life Partner - Provided enough laughs Wanted - Entertaining from start to end Wake up Sid - Never felt like taking eyes off All the Best - Was laughing continuously APKGK - Entertaining from start to end De Dana Dan - Provided enough laughs Paa - Auro factor 3 Idiots - Absolute beauty(can't pinpoint my feelings after watching)
I have excluded NewYork & Kambakht Ishq, as I was extremely disappointed with both of them, but still they did reasonable business on BO.
You can see film of diifernt genre have become hit over last year & for different reasons. But one feeling is common at the end of each movie i.e. you feel satisfied and in some cases above that.
And that's where Rann failed in spite of being a well made film

I think there is an over-reaction here. Rann is an innovative movie only but I think (I really do) that for such a mature performance of a journalist, Amitabh was a real misfit. Also to handle such a serious subject, was Riteish Deshmukh a right choice? Would have been better if RGV had chosen a more experienced actor. Instead of Amitabh too, an Anupam Kher or even Boman Irani (remember his performance in MBMBBS, LRMB and 3 idiots might have done better justice to the role. But on the whole the movie does have shades of stereo-type. Given the patchy record of RGV movies, predictably Rann did not have the expected opening in B.O. However, in comparison Vishal Bhardwaj as a movie maker (though it is his protegie directing Ishqiya this time) is far, far credible and easily more accomplished and even less phony than the likes of both RGV and Mahesh Bhatt. Besides, he makes it a point to take the best in acting talents for his movies (remember the cast of Maqbool - I challenge that Amitabh can NEVER EVER repeat the performance of Om Puri or Naseer as the unglamorous corrupt, manipulative cops (also acting as sutradhaars in Maqbool) in his life at any point. It is the combined reputation of Arshad, Naseer, Gulzar, Vishal Bhardwaj and his team that has caused Ishqiya to get a better response at the BO than Rann. Thats all.

Rann movie is for intelligent people and people who like serious cinema. ur a D grade movie buff which is apparent from the taste of ur movies as you've listed. people who like masala in the movies will be dissappointed with rann.

Fact is fact.Be a masala or intelligent film, if you don't feel satisfied at the end of it, it's a goner.Fullstop

Sukanya is fkd up after so many comments for her article "Horrors of rann".Now she wants to prove she is right.Guys ...I am telling rann is excellent movie.There r many movies like "Isqhqiya".But rann is a differnt movie.Somewhere I feel this editor lives in a old age.

A sane critic will right both good and bad part of a movie..The movie concept is good but execution is over drmatic...overall avg movie to watch at home..Dont waste too much in a theatre
