Girish Kasaravalli’s Riding the Dreams (Kanasemba Kudureyaneri), screened at the Mumbai Film Festival, is part of India’s reality cinema savoured by a small, but devoted, audience. In fact,Bengaluru-based Kasaravalli’s films have never been big crowd-pullers, and this movie is not likely to be an exception. The film is a brilliant study of how India’s poorest of the poor struggle to survive in awfully degrading conditions.
The reputation of kasaravalli as a director is great in the kannada film industry who has bagged more number of national as well as international award for his movies. In his movie there will be clear message for all but this type of art movies are not really encouraged by many kannada audience.

Any girish kasaravalli movie is a must watch, I wonder when we will learn to appreciate the good work, . I loved all his moveies (dweepa, naayi neralu, haseena ,gulabhi talkies etc) including Gruha bangha serial, all are marvellous . I just hope that one day even his movies will be scrrened in many theaters and there will be a Q to get ticket, rather than all his movies making rounds of few International film festival and only they appreciating this.
Had to google the movie to know which language this is in. Is every reader of rediff expected to understand that the title is in kannada? Wake up, rediff!

if you liked Guzaarish, you might like "The Sea Inside",because Guzaarish shamelessly borrows from the spanish movie.
