Unless we see actors like abhishek bacchan, we won't comprehend how much better are actors like Amir khan!
I love reading his film reviews. To begin with, that is the way English should be written if we want to call ourselves English speaking. Secondly,it is a balance view where he appreciates what is worth appreciating, instead of just lambasting like most other critics. Please ensure that he continues to be on board or else Friday afternoons will never be the same.
Being a regular reader of Rediff...sometimes I like Raja Sen's review and sometimes not. But what wonders me why people are so shallow minded in thinking if I write a good word about Raja Sen I am doing so because I am a bengali....I really don't understand this.
This time I liked his review...but I hated his My Name is Khan review....
Just saw the movie & you're right, raja. Freaking school children patriotism cacophony. Don't care what people say but you're still the only bona fide Indian Siskel & Ebert(rolled into one). That being said, I still think you need to re-review 3idiots & watch MNIK again..sans bhang binge pre-show this time around :)
raja sen is mixing his pleasure with his job. A review of a work should relate various aspects of that work with reader's life. He has reviewed and rated only a small tiny aspect of this work - viz - he picked up one role in that movie - and not even tried to relate that role to our life, instead he chose to jump into the background and history of the guy who was playing that role..and review that. A story of freedom struggle is not supposed to be entertaining. It is sick to expect that. Sick people can watch and do good review of dabang and ddlj. Not KHJJS. Given the percent of movie made on freedom struggle and given the high need of that now due to bondages we keep falling into - this movie's story is a rare genre. So if he reviews that movie in its genre then it can get more rating. Anyway review should not give rating. The length of review should itself be rating. The more longer the review the more thoughtful a reviewer has been to relate that movie to reader's daily life. When a man offers flower to a God in temple then you dont review the type of flower or its quantity, you review the act itself. Jai Hind. PS: Also I dont understand why is bangladsh is allowed to be a separate nation and that too a mulsim nation. It shud be democratized secularized immediately.
