Oscars

The Oscars are not such a big thing, you now. These are awards that are not bestowed on excellence alone; how politically correct you are and how happy you make the people that matter is a bigger factor. Avatar lost out because it gives a message against corporate America, not because it was in any way inferior to The Hurt Locker. The year complaints arose that the awards are racist, Denzel Washington and Halle Berry were handed the trophies. Thats not to say that they didn't deserve them, but rather that it was a convenient time to acknowledge them. There are various examples of people denied Oscars just because what they said or did didn't go down well with a select few, as well as examples of people rewarded for their loyalty and perseverance, not to the art of acting, but to the Academy of Motion Pictures. So whether a movie wins an Oscar or not is in no way a parameter to gauge its excellence.
