Those companies need Maharashtra more than Maharashtra needs those companies...
For example Premier and Ambassador were two rubbish cars produced in India by great Marwari families .... India did not benefit from those cars, the Marwari families sure did!
There are hundreds of mining companies in the world like Rio Tinto on down... and no one needs anybody. The ore is all that matters.
If the SS has a problem with the Hindi Film Industry, no problem, and yes they're absolutely right by the way, why should Marathi films, irrespective of commerical value NOT be screened during prime time? This is their land and they have a right to do whatever they want. What's the demise of a few multiplexes, my fellow Bengalis killed ALL industry in their state just to show that its their land and they can do what they want.
In the meantime, some enterprising Chief Minister can step in to fill the void pretty quickly.

This is the statistics for all regional movies. Why are you singling out Marati films.Every where tamil, telugu, malayalam,bengali less than 10% of the movies becomes hit. I think that's true for Hindi movies too. So you can't show that as a reason for not showing Marati films. I think it should be made compulsory otherwise none of the Multiplex will entertain Marati film makers in Mumbai. When you do business in some location you will have to respect the culture there whether it's Mumbai, Newyork or Africa.

Actually NY is a poor example, because it does not have any real culture, stretching back hundreds of years. Infact, its only culture is immigration! The people of NY don't care where you come from, what is your mother tongue, what is your other factors, they are only interested in themselves, is this not intolerably selfish? The only way to integrate into what passes for society in NY is to get into some kind of obscene activity like arts, or theatre, or professional bodies eeks.
Now, Africa is a much better example. If you try to visit say Mogadishu or Harare or Zimbabwe, they have a strong local culture, whether Hutu or Tutsi or Zulu. Try talking with a Hutu in a foreign language and see what they do to you. You have to follow their local customs. Try eating or drinking water in public during these months in Mozambique and they's throw you out. That is called respecting local culture.

Oh really, my state is more urbanized than you and has far more employment and the least farmer suicide rate. BTW mumbai is NOT a part of maharashtra. At the time of parition you guys were temporarily in majority. and now with your minority population you claim it is urs. As a matter of fact let me apprise you : If you want industries and services sector to flourish in your state you local marathis should be able to supply enough of them, if not let the the outsiders come and assist in the growth of the economy( adding to your state's tax coffers ). In a free market dont moan about the outsiders coming and jacking you if you cannot satisfy the needs with the natives.

My place has a way way better sea shore that your western belt. filled with dirty water beaches. If do agree that your cities have been colnoized byt the north b..i..m..a..r..u states. But the very reason for their existence is dependent upon their extent of colonization. As I have observered marathis are quite lazy ppl, and for sure cannot provide white collar and blue collared workforce for your cities in western belt
These Shiv Senas or MNS will ruin the mumbai city...how can you force somebody to change from a profit making business to total loss?? If the films are good, audience will come to watch. No matter which language. Even english films get bumper openings in India even though not many could completely follow their language. What if the multiplexes suffers loss?? Will these vanar senas pay back the loss?? Now the next agenda of Shiv sena and MNS will be to force public to vote for their party or will be bruitly murdered. Its total gunda raj in Mumbai..somebody stop them or else it will turn into another taliban...
