All dirty faces, dirty villages, poor screenplay, poor direction and mockery of farmers plight all these things makes PEEPLi best film of the year. The blogger feels and has taken for granted that rediff readers are most fooloish people on earth, kick out his ass and piss on this bloggers face for wrongly and intentionally praising PEEPLI,Amir should anoounce that he is commiting suicide now then story will take a good turn

i would agree with u had the reviews on other s.i.t.e.s been negative..but almost all the reviews hv given 4 and abv stars for this movie...u say all of the are biased..any ways i suggest u stick wz mnik, oso, kank, housefull etc
The last line in the screen"1 million farmers in India quit farming between 1991-2001" as per census report..and the protagonist seen breaking stones in the road side, under NRG !... This may not be a bad news at all!!..25% of our population lives in the cities and atleast 60-70 % population is dependent on agriculture.. The end result..suicide,division of agricultural land because of too many people involved, primitive agricultural techniques ..this is an absurd situation...and is also happening because of our sluggish economic progress and lack of alternative employment opportunities arising from very limited industrial development.Too many people need not be involved with agriculture.. At best 25% population should be dependent on agriculture which is more than enough..we just need to use improved agricultural techniques..hence,from this perspective,I agree with NaseeruddinShah's dialogue that we need industrialisation to prevent farmer suicide. I have watched the movie in the internet, and following are my observations.. 1)The director made the movie with a social cause in mind 2)Producer may also have produced this movie with a hope of getting entry to Oscar and hopefully some awards..however,I am doubtful without a director from the UK or US,whether the film will be considered suitable for the award ! 3)Will be a flop show in the theaters..but I suggest ..

Indians to watch the movie, atleast for a change to familiarise with real India... 4)A well made satire, made for the classes at the cost of making fun on the plight of the masses...
I will give 4 stars and will hope that our ministers especially Sharad Powar watches it and his heart changes for ever and becomes a compassionate citizen and finds ways to bring revolutionary changes and iradicates farmer suicide...

P.S.Any movie which is made with a cause need not be pushed to foreign festivals..but should be shown in Indian colleges and universities..this movie may sure get some awards at foreign festivals as it shows the poor side of India just like slumdog millionaire... I suggest team of peepli live not to hanker after foreign publicity, awards, etc if you really making this movie for a cause, instead you force our ministers and MPs and government officers to watch this movie, that will serve the real purpose of making the movie..foreigners cannot come and change our system..
The movie is an insult to farmers who have been victims of the system. By showing a farmer deciding to commit suicide just for the sake of compensation, the filmmakers have made light of a serious issues. Shame on Amir Khan and the team...instead of touching the real serious problems of the farmers...they have created humour out of it.
Ashutosh Govarikars Lagan was a hit. Cocept was unique...every character was the hero and had a important role to play. They have lifted the same idea...the same rural characters. Even media posters are copied. But they have failed to show sensitivity to our beloved hardworking farmers problems. Farmers suicide is the most serious issue. Satire can be targeted at our corrupt politicians or TRP crazy media but defiantly not at poor farmers. It shows insensitivity of the team.

If you have brains then you would understand this was all about sarcasm.. It shows how the politicians make a mockery of the helplessness of the poor farmers..

Which part of "satire" do you not get? This is a well executed film that subtly brings to light a real problem faced by those living below the poverty line. It does not mock or belittle the issue in any way!
At the end of the film, I was moved by the subject matter. If this were a documentary, I may not have even watched it... let alone the millions of Indians around the world who did. That's what a brand name like Aamir Khan does. It's a great vehicle to bring awareness to an issue like this... no harm if he profits from it.
One character I was especially distubed by was the old man who dug his own grave, Hori Mahto . Does the name ring a bell? Google it and you will know where the character comes from and what it signifies in this film.

Don't live in idol world. Be realistic. What is shown in the movie matches 90% with reality.
