Avatar was abt aliens...similarly terminator futuristic aliens ..transformers n f4 rise of silver surfer...its not always necessary that aliens should appear skull stretched species,it may look lyk a greek god too
The characterisation of aliens in Hollywood movies leaves much to be desired.
Aliens are stereotyped as blood thursty, advanced, arrogant dimwits out to slaughter mankind and take over poor planet earth.
They just may be wise, advanced and more sophisticated than the imagination of some poor Hollywood story writers. Star wars and the foundation series of Asimov is likely to be juvenile compared to what they actually are. A bumbling yoda as the epitome of galactic wisdom may invite sniggers at best. worse would be gun toting jocks and virus loaded computers bringing down spaceships and robots.
Suppose the movies were to explore one ability they MAY have namely to control mind AND matter of any kind with seriousness then most of these movies would be best watched as amusement.
A new concept involving mankind taking the help of its mutants [who are the next step in human evolution according to xmen movies:-)] and robots to fight off aliens and their machines/robots. Hollywood should explore this concept.
Or am i spending too much time thinking about movies? :-)
agreed technically it is in a galaxy far far away, but otherwise, they are all human and what a vaaaaast variety of aliens.
Stories within stories, lofty principles, twisted real politics, stunning visual graphics, superb fight scenes, visionary technology concepts, more attention to detail than many of the recent movies put together.
Just how can you miss star wars, it is full of aliens, alien worlds, alien technologies, and races.
One Star Wars movie can spawn at least 4 of these normal sci-fi movies. Given the variety of alien races and depth of plots, it is truly galactic megaplot, metaphorically speaking.
A must-see for every sci-fi lover. You get all 6 movies on youtube.
Dont miss them. Watch them in sequence. Six movies. Dont watch them all in one weekend. You will not be able to digest or enjoy most of the richness and entertaining subtleties.
If you're the scientific type, dont miss Star Trek.
The movies are boring because there is not much thrill/action, but there is great wisdom in the episodes. Highly Recommended for lovers of space, physics, science, aliens and non-violence.
Where is the Terminator & its sequels? Though it is not a outright alien movie, still it has the robots sent from the future. Thought the word "alien" has nothing to do with extra terrestrials but also the word extra terrestrials doesnt mean "species" from the space or other planets.
