On numerous ocasion, I have read the line " leave your brains at home an enjoy ". Such a thought is propogated by both the average masses as well as the reviewer. In the western world nobody urges you to leave your brains behind. Why should we at all leave our brains behind? Why cannot Indian entertainmet produce which can be entertaiing even with your brains? Why should we be asked to enjoy something trash? Why can't the journalist (if such a thing exixts in indian media, all of them are reporters not journalist - that's another topic) call a spade a spade? India has to change intellectually and the media has to contribute. I don't see that hapening with the current standard.
see the simple calculations to prove what a phenomenon ilayathalapathy is: movie budget= usually around 25 crores including vijay's salary of 10 crores. movie collections on each day: first day = 500 screens*5 shows*500seats on an average*50 Rs9average ticket price) = 6.25 crores. Second day and third day will more or less be the same as it would weekends. so total collections for the first 3 days itself would be around 20 crores. usually vijay films are houseful for the entire 1st week, comes down to around 85%-90% in the second week, and continues to be in the range of 60%-80% for the next 2-3 weeks. easily every movie of his will make around 50 crores.

SURA IS THE WORST FILM OF VIJAY TILL DATE, IT IS WORSE THAN VETTAIKARAN IN WHICH ATLEAST SALIM GHOUSE THE VILLAIN HAS A LIKEABLE VOICE MODULATIONS, IN THIS MOVIE THERE IS VIRTUALLY NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT,EVEN THE FRESH TAMMANAH LOOKS LIKE NAMITHA AND VADIVELU LOOKS LIKE VENNIRADAI MOORTHY, GOD WHAT A CRAP OF A MOVIE, FORGET ABOUT SIMPLE CALCULATIONS, IT IS GOOD THAT THE FILM FLOPS THEN ATLEAST THESE SUN TV FELLOWS WILL STOP TAKING OVER THE TAMIL FILM INDUSTRY.
for all those whose stomach burns whenever ilayathalapthy succeeds, first try to review ur life before passing comments on that great man.vijay is not like other actors who are good in just few departments of acting. he dances brilliantly, his comic timing is fabulous, his movies more or less turn out to be record breaking blockbusters.except for kuruvi and villu, all his movies have made profit.movies like ghilli created awareness about our home-bred sport, kabaddi.tell me which actor has guts to go with a relatively new director in his landmark film?producers pour money just for the mere presence of vijay in a movie. they don't care abt the director, actress, support cast etc. vijay is like the IPL to tamil industry. amongst the tamil actors of all time, he is the only one who can bring in profits matching to that of MGR and Rajni.

common sense is required for u ....ur the biggest fool i've ever seen ....if ur fan vijay ....dnt chumma support his movies which are being flops one by one ...accept it ...it'll b much better ...ha ha ha

go and check his official website, distributors records, theater collection records, media houses etc. u will understand what i am saying. as said above it is only kuruvi and villu which couldn't earn big profits. No fool will bet on a losing horse which vijay isn't.see the case of ajith. his movies flops left, right and centre. he couldn't handle the fact that even nakulan's movie collections are far greater than his movies make. hence he went away saying that he would participate in his so called "passion", motorsports.if he were a successful actor, why should he quit the industry?

I think u left ur brains behind when writing this. Take Care
I havent seen the movie and this comment is with respect to Vijay and his fans....
A. Who is putting money to make movies of Vijay in spite of the fact that his last few movies had stale movie stuff.....makes me wonder if at all those movies were flops in first place or is anybody doing away with black money
B. Who are these so called Vijay fans that he keeps thanking in all public events....where do they exist....and how come they are willing to spend their hard earned money for such movies.......Is blind hero following still there in TN...
C. Why does Vijay act so coy and speaks so badly in public (I saw a 2 to 3 recent CM functions and he is undoubtedly a worst public speaker.....incoherent, illogical talk)
I welcome a healthy and decent discussion on this if anybody has any views as I am pondering on these questions.....

For point B. 1.the scenario in TN is that most of the youth who r in 20s- 30s do watch any crap movie at the alarm of a weekend break, since they need to relieve work pressure. 2.Then comes the B &C class audience who don't judge the quality of the movie or his gimmicks as their saviour..for this to change in TN..it will take minimum 10 yrs as awareness about quality films has to increase. 3.The comes the self proclaimed fans associations..who r mad and blind about their respective heroes.Vijay still claims that perarsu like directors bring the best from him compared to others.
The trend is that quality films are watched more in DVD than crap films.Just turn up from newyear all films r same old commercial mill run with poor scripts..Angadi theru or VTV might save directional grace..

mr.common, people in B and C centres are very hardworking people(work is more physical)and they need movies that give them entertainment, dialogs which uplift their moods and morale, movies that help them to forget their drudgery, which every vijay movie provides.regarding fans associations, every vijay fans association works for the society by doing selfless social service which vijay advocates and practices in real life. vijay's statements on perarasu is miscontrued, he merely said that he enjoys roles given by perarasu coz they provide enough scope for him to exhibit his skills such as comedy, action, dance etc.angadi theru or VTV are films watched by people like u who think that they are intelligent than others.i ask u what was there in VTV?haven't u seen such stupid romances before?except few songs and good locales, the movie should have got negative ratings.
Vijay had planned to take maximum advantage of the holiday vacation period the children are into..so that since there r no more films to compete , this is best time to take max out of an avg movie..his ghilli film was released in the same manner ...his intro scene was the ultimate comedy in the film...god know when will vijay change..even simbu has changed!!!!
