Many more great Musicians generated in India than Rahman. Rahman is not even closer to them. His music is replica of Roza (film) kind. Oscar he won working on a foreign film on Indian pathetic scenario of slums. Here also his music is same Roza style. Roza should also given Oscar Award at least for Rahman.

Absolutely right. For many of them from North who do not know about Ilayaraja. He is supposed to be the best music director. Leave alone oscar or grammy awards. He is the genius. I think he was quite unlucky to not have been recognized. These days ,it takes lot of marketing and promotional statistics to go to higher levels. When it comes to quality or technical brilliance and rendering evergreen music, it should be Ilayaraja,RD.Burman,Naushad and so on. Rehman is very good but whether he is the best is an arguable topic.

how well do you know ARR? there are/were great musicians in india i agree..but he made a diff by taking the indian music to the next level..a bigger stage..a lot of people are still struggling to do this...they have shown india in the right direction in slumdog millionare..whats wrong in that..accept the reality man!! grow up..rich is growing richer..poor is going poorer..so shut the F up

Rahman was elementary in taking Indian Film music to the world... He made India proud with the oscar and grammy awards...!!
But, whether he is the greatest contributor of Indian Music IN INDIA, is an arguable topic!
