 Does Desi means Punjab ?

Why Punjab village was chosen for Desi tag ?

A real test of Desi village life would be in remote villages of BIHAR.
In contrast with rural Bihar, Punjab villages are well off with abundant water and necessary amenities. There are well-to-do households in every Punjab villages and they also have relatives settled abroad.
Go to villages in other states to witness real DESI India.

Are not even close to how the above girls in the picture look.

I am yet to see a girl in Hyderabad who look anywhere close to the above girls.

We all know real Indian girls are 90% short/Dark...

Why do we always try to portray Indian girls to be fair tall and sharp features?
