Tamil film industry has the highest number of great singers-cum-actors like
MK Thygaraja Bagvathar
PU Chinaappa
TR Ramalingam
KB Sundarambal
TR Varalakshmi
Sirkazhi Govindarajan
MS Subbulakshmi
ML Vasanthakumari
All the above are regular full time actors and great classical/cine singers and most of the songs were recorded live on the sets while they are acting.
Also there are good movie singers like Chandrababu, Kamalhaasan, etc. They have sung some great wonderful songs and not like amitabh that is created for him with no musical sense. No other movie industry has created such great musical/acting talents in india. But only due to popularity of hindi cinema they get noticed and rest of india ignored. Things will change soon and south will dominate.. wait.
