No Raja Please

Rediff - for Heaven's sake, pls don't assign Raja to write the reviews. having studied in an English Medium school and having done my graduation from St.xavier's College, Calcutta, I thought that I was a bit above the general English speaking public of India. But in most cases, what raja writes becomes a tangent over my head as correctly pointed out by the previous messager. Then, how should the rest of the Rediff readers supposed to understand the review and how would it serve the purpose? Or do u take it for granted that all rediff readers are educated at Cambridge or Wharton. U do have a great reviewer in Sukanya and a few others who are really good. So why not give them more chance instead of the great Raja. have u forgot his massacre when he rated "3 Idiots" with a miserlt 2 star?

then dont read his reviews. stick to the taran adarshs of the world. Raja Sen knows his cinema and am sure has a niche audience for his writing. It will be a disgrace if rediff asks him to stop writing because of the reverse snobs that infest this message board.

bhai manjul if he gave 3 idiots 2 stars he was too generous - it hardly deserved morew than one. just because a movie became a hit or got those moronic filmfare awards, does not mean it is a good movie.
wake up and smell the coffee. but u probably would have given om shanti om 4 stars. sad isn;t it?

well I do not find the language of the review to be complicated. The vocabulary used is pretty much OK so probably you need to shed that halo of St. Xavier's College and brush up your linguistic skills. I am just an Engineer by education and not from humanities background so I think it just be OK for others as well.

But yes the review is pathetic as is Raja Sen

Oh Raja!

"Moments are carved out meticulously in Sen's films-- as earthily splendid as that of a local medicine man scratching his hairy breast and pontificating proudly, armed with the condescension afforded to him by a knowledge of English -- and she is clearly marvellously skilled in the art of cinematic surgery, finding the perfect heartbeats for her narrative."

What on earth is this supposed to mean?

Raja Sen is talking about himself - replace "local medicine man" with "local hack".
