Is rediff still in a cost cutting mode? Hiring any passerby to write articles about a band called Indian Ocean which is now very much a part of Indian musical heritage?
This is a totally confused review by someone who had no proper understanding about the band’s musical philosophy and is totally lost about what to write about them.
I don’t know if the documentary really highlighted the fulfillment of their “middle class musical dream” so much rather than their music and the underlying philosophy. If that is so I would not rate the film so high and would not recommend anybody to try to watch it.
I have time and again written to rediff for giving me a chance to write for them. When I look at articles like these, I feel rediff is reiterating the fact that they are happy with mediocre talent. I promise that I could have done a better job with this article.

Dude, who stops you from writing...Do so with a blog and post a link here :)
"To think that four guys, who came from backgrounds designed for a life of 9-to-5 labour (until retirement) could take the decision to make their music their primary occupation as well as source of income is nothing short of incredible. "
If this is the reason why you have given a 4/5 rating, I think you need to re-evaluate.
Also, I do not see you mentioning about their music at all.
Lastly, if you came to know about the band **only** after Asheem's demise, I dare say that you are not even qualified to review them.

My sentiments exactly! The first Indian Ocean song he heard was Bandeh!! This probably means he's not even aware of Kandisa and the kind of music Indian Ocean plays. He has had to rely on hearsay. What a joke!
