ashutosh's films inspired by old tv serials.....
by full on on Sep 27, 2009 09:51 AM  | Hide replies

y ashutosh's film are based on old tv serials? first "lagaan" was inspired by one of the episodes of old "Nukkad" where main character "guru" challenges rich boys of the locality for a cricket match and wins it with his poor friends in his team. I think ashutosh too was part of that episode. Swades too was ispired by some marathi tv serial.and now "wots' ur raashhee" like "mr.yogi". Ashutosh please atleast you do your films on original scripts and plots.

its not bad to get inspired or remake TV series to films. films like mission impossible, Hanna montana are all TV series. Still lot of movies are there from hollywood and nobody complained about it. so It doesnt matter as you are accusing.

Its not really close if you actually believe in astrology and all tht stuff. The movie only shows off slight nuances of each charactr straight out of daily horoscopes nd blends in w.a love story.

It's a silly idea to actually base charactrs frm wht little horoscopes can offer. Bt, in the movie 1 actress tries too hard tht it comes of as caricatures and nothing more thn that.

wyr:good concept,bt weak execution
by Devin Aaron on Sep 26, 2009 09:37 PM

Story is interesting and fun, bt if any1 wtchd the t.v series tht ws way more exiciting b.c it had 12 diffrnt actresses. The length of the movie is alwys talkd abt the critics, bt wht abt a t.v series tht stretchd from week to week. So the movie is a good adaption as fr as the length goes, bt the charactrs wsn't executd properly.

Evn some westrn critics who saw the film at TIFF especially rob nelson frm variety nd also a canadian critic criticzd the story by calling it silly. Plus the idea of 1 actress portrayin 12 roles which thy alrdy understood didn't make sense to them, b.c are they supposd to luk alike. I disagree w.them abt the story being silly, bt i agree w.them on 1 actress doin 12 roles.

Its a simple romantic comedy and all zodiac charactrs ar real nd not sum shakespeare created tragic or romantic character. Whts the big deal w.1 actress doin all 12 roles, unless thr is a long lost clones reincarnation angle to the story. Marriage is the main thing here, and the guy is seen "choosing" a girl to marry. Whrs the choosing in the movie, its one person nd she has differnt personalities. It doesn't mean its 12 "diffrnt" charactrs.

Overall, i really liked the story bt at best its just an escapist cinema which is unusual for the director.
