most of the poets in today's time are pretty much linear. amongst the lot, Gulzar stands apart - there are mystical and full of intrigue. though sounds quite simple to listen, it can mean, what you want it to.
listen to "jiya jale" from dil se and you will know how cleverly the meaning is camouflaged. and such examples are many....
Other poet may be good but they need high fi langauge to describe the emotions but Gulzar sir uses simple words and puts them together in such an order that creats the magic. Thats why they get popular and touches souls of many. Beauty in simplicity.
