Old wine in new bottle simply won't work
by Manoj on Dec 07, 2009 11:34 AM

First of all, MT must not try for something like old wine in new bottle. It won't simply work out.Today's gene next attitute , likes and dislike are completetly different to accept a theme like neelathamara. Instead MT must write something that has to reflect the attitute of todays youth in a touching manner.

Pls avoid plot details
by Anoop KN on Dec 02, 2009 07:28 PM

I request Mr.Paresh to avoid using plot details to fill-up his review. A plot outline will do, instead he has given out almost the full story!

Neelathamara ' not reaching the expectation. The combination of LalJose and MT is not at all succesful
As compraed to the previous films of Laljose and MT ,this film we can judge as an average

Paresh C Palicha is a total PALICHA (disaster)
by gopa kumar on Dec 01, 2009 02:16 PM

Mr.Paresh C Palicha, who told you for making a good movie solid story is required? It needs a solid script...your GK about feature films are very sad and poor. Please see Steven Spielbergh's "DUAL" movie. It doesn't have a solid story, but having a well written script. And he made it very convincingly. There are many films like that, even in India also.
So study something and write columns here. don't waste rediff's space.

Surely this film succeeds in a big way to brought back our malayalam film culture. I think Mr. Lal jose is more appreciable than Mr. M.T. Vasudevan Nair, bcz this film is more a directorial film than writer based one. The old Neelathamara is more a classic and the new one is really no way near to that. But in the directorial table its a well made film and enjoyable and its surely up the expectation of the new generation audience. Well done Lal jose u did once again and proved that ur the best in the business after arabikkatha.

Neelathamara - new and improved!!
by Shashi Kumar on Dec 01, 2009 09:44 AM

I think Lal Jose was clever in realizing that the Neelathamara of 1979 had gone un-noticed when it was released.....something very rare for a film with an MT screenplay. The original was a very insipid film and M/s Ravi Kumar and Sattar were not the greatest of performers by any stretch of imagination. So Lal Jose figured that it would be highly likely that he could make a better film than the original and bring in the new generation as well as the old generation to watch the film. Hope he succeeds in his attempt. But to insinuate that the old Neelathamara was a great film is all bull.

Synopsis?

Please try to figure out the difference between a film synopsis and a film review! If I wanted to know the story, I would watch the film!

The new version of Neelathamara is only an utter waste of time watching. My initial expectation was very high...but desparate after watching the real movie :(.The only strenght of this movie is the song"Anuraaga vilochitannai..." and the beautiful location. Now i even have an aversion for the song due to the negative charcter of that hero. The revised script did not convey any new element and the story was not placed properly as nothing was explicitly mentioned. All together a "MEGA TRAGEDY"
