By Taran Adarsh, November 21, 2009 - 08:48 IST The much-hyped KURBAAN opened to a below-the-mark response. The opening was 40% to 50% at plexes, but much lower at single screens. The film has had a wide release and the numbers were expected to be huge, but the opening day business was not in proportion with the stature of the film.
The next two days [Saturday and Sunday] are crucial and the film should show an escalation in business. Meanwhile, the film fetched Rs. 1 crore in paid previews on Thursday night, according to a statement received by this writer from UTV.

Although everyone in India has his right to have an opinion.....your stupid judgement of a brilliant film shows that you DID NOT understand the message this film wanted to get across...

Well in the first place you seem to be deprived of the ability to appreciate the efforts put into movies about such sensitive topics....and if you were so intent on telling us how 'hard earned' your money is then you'd spell it right.

premise on paper may get financers and distributors but an end product has nothing to do with it.
My hard earned money my hard earned money, no justification reqd
Am 100% sure had this movie included some not so famous stars, it would have been an utter flop inspite of having such a good storyline and the execution of it. But thx to Saifeenas hot bedroom scene and an outstanding title track, most of the usual cine goers who dnt see beyond brainless comedies/action, skin shows and good music in d movies will go for it unaware of an intense, gripping storyline and dialogues which of course would bore them to death... Kurbaan is a serious movie based on terrorism (reality) and according to me much better than New York (which is not a bad movie either). So if u belong to d former class of cine goers plz wait for Radio, Dan Dana Dan.....

The movie is great ! But its not for that section of audience who only appreciates typical Bollywood masal films with Songs, dances and comedy !

i think Gaurav was bang on this....its surely a confused movie....a K series family soap man trying to be serious and how....
nothing but a B grade television serial in some not known B grade channel...these people should stick rona-dhona, sentiment, Switzerland sing songs...thats it

Maybe its not the movie that is 'total crap'...maybe you just don't know how to appreciate well-crafted movies...and you probably didn't understand the message...

well crafted movie....dam u....well crafted movie....hahaha....;its just that a someone trying to make 'serious' movie after making all thise crap K movies....really we Indians great....well crafted movie....huh
I am a average film goer, and I have watched this heroism of terrorist movie. Certainly it is not worth for 3.5 stars.
It might be good if HAD to go watch movie because your are free then you can spend, else it is waste to spend a family day/ evening to watch this on TV/CD after couple of months.
All in all, not so great movie or song as it been written in this review.
This Review is Fake atleast for a average indian moving follower like me.
Apart for Kareena's skin show that too just for couple of minutes, nothing so 'spl' to go and watch.
Guys if you better things to do, go ahead and dont watch this movie in a hurry.

i really wonder why media so much hype about kareeeeena's s*x appeal...a flat one rupee coin has more curves than her...
For the first time, I agree with a Rediff review of a movie. Kurbaan is truly well made. But yes, if popcorn entertainment is what you thrive on, then you won't like it. For once a Dharma productions film is intense, gritty & has tried to be very realistic. Also, for some people here who think it wasn't released before Friday, let me clarify that it was actually released - the entire film - on Thursday (there were some paid preview shows, & I myself watched one such show).
