I love science fiction and disaster films. By definition, one has to have expectations that a film like this is conceived for pure escapism and entertainment value...And this film delivers when it comes to stunning CGI effects that moviegoers have never seen before...But when writing a script that is supposed to be humorous, the writer also created a serious and philosophical doctor role who says the phrase "My God!" so many times it would make one want to scream.
It's about 45 minutes too long and the stupefyingly-dull dead scenes of snotty brats calling dad stupid (that has never ever happened before!), sobby goodbyes, and aimless couple-babble could easily have ben chopped and nobody would ever miss them.
All of the characters are stereotypical and completely unlikeable. I spent most of the movie hoping everyone would die faster so the movie would end.
If it were cut to 90 minutes and had a better script...it might be an okay movie.
i refrained myself frm watching this movie after reading ur Elvis's review. But my husband insisted for watching it once. Thanks to my hubby...i so liked the movie..its not just abt world's end...its about faith and hope.special effects, story narration..all well crafted! Must say...Elvis gives wrong reviews..not fit for this job.

Few things are right in your review, but its really hard to handle screenplay and extraordinary visual effects at the same time. So here we should give importance to visual effects. My review 3.5/5 (visual effects 5/5).
Why not you mention about the positive aspects of this movie? I am sure that at a certain point of time in this movie, you may feel bored since only demolitions are shown. But the efforts taken to show those ruins as "real" is simply excellent and I really appreciate the special effects team. Kudos to the graphics team of 2012.. Its a milestone in special effects.. .I will give 3 star for this movie... !!
mr elvis di silva.......roland emmerich has given good idea to survive the tsunami....in future,,,,,it lacks in humour but,,,,its a good one....worth a watch......
Elvis D Silva is totally gone nuts while writing this review. 2012 is a good movie with unprecedent special effect which makes end of the world look so real.. anyday worth a watch with a rating of 3-1/2..
